Because not every brand is a manufacturer or company, some are brands within other brands that are the manufacturer. e.g Mecer, Kodak, Axpert and other brands are Voltronic brands, there are probably very few battery manufacturers but how many brands do we have?
First National make them, same as excis batteries.
And First National is the Boss.
The boss as in the best out there or the boss like the boss of all of the brands?
Before lithium ion became fashionable big Telecoms companies were using First National Battery, they still are even today, that should tell you what you need to know about them.
Varta is the Boss, that's what you get in high end cars. But what AH are they and are they deep cycle, R2250 for a Varta sounds suspiciously too good to be true, unless it's a 50Ah.
I have a suspicion that it is just a car battery.
It's a leisure battery not really suited for the solar application, it's basically a deep cycle and cranking battery hybrid. But tell you what, I would take it over the cheap solar batteries on the market. It's very affordable for what it is.
Yeah I also found the spec sheet and thought the same thing. Its definitely not a conventional storage battery for renewables and it doesnt mention cycle ratings anywhere.
I'm sorry, but no lead technology battery is suitable for renewables.
But some are more unsuitable than others.
Yup definitely agree there. Its cheaper in the short term to purchase but its hardly an ideal long term solution.
It's also fine for a long term backup solution (deep cycle).
Eskom were also always using First National Battery, at least way back at Matimba anyway.
