The Battery Thread (Solar / Inverter)

1 have two Vision 100Ah batteries. I've not had any issues with them so far. (Bought one in Feb last year and another in Jan this year)
I think the price difference is now much smaller between the Vision and the Enertec. The enertec was R1800-R2000 when I bought it , the vision batteries were R3000-R3500 if I remember correctly.

I paid R2,368 last year and R2,480 this year. Not too bad I guess.

I’v just purchased the Sunsynk 8kw hybrid inverter and 2 Hubble 5.5kw batteries.

Can anyone recommend a good electrician in JHB that has experience with installing this inverter and battery and that is also reasonably priced?

@RonSwanson gave me a contact but he’s too far and also won’t be available for the next 2 weeks.

I don't want Enertec again. :)

They recommend the vision AGM on their website for more cycles.

I went for a middle ground as my system is also 24v.

Ordered two 150Ah batteries by sosolar. Gel type. Reviews look good and the R3799 wasn’t on special or anything so yeah.

They do have 100Ah at R2200 each but that’s at the store. On takealot they are R2400 each.

Mine arrive tomorrow, hopefully early so I can have them charged for the 8pm loadshedding scheduled for me. I’m currently in lodshedding and old batteries at 23% and beeping. Don’t care as they are already pap.

From fully charged they managed a measly 160w average draw for 2 hours.

Edit
These 6 year old Ritars didn’t last badly, but now it’s just pathetic. They were at 27v just before loadshedding hit at 8pm

Please send pics when they arrive.

Got my roofing guys to help install the mounting for the solar panels, and load up the panels on the roof for installation. I just finished with the cabling, should be able to use some of this solar goodness in a day or two once I get the rest of the wiring done downstairs.

395W panels x 24, in 3 strings of 8, for a total of 9.5KW...ish
