about 130, linked to PTA - more than 200 in total

PTAWUG is growing at an average of about 2 members per week. Some weeks more... The nice thing is some areas are already fully covered, so it is just a matter of getting kit an joining...

PS. Please always read the guide on www.ptawug.co.za or pop into irc and discus your setup, there is also an online irc client called mibbit available, on www.ptawug.co.za

What are you waiting for.

I'm seriously considering joining, but I think I'm going to need to save a bit for the equipment.

Well with all the bladdy internet issues i have been having this is a awesome solution. Im gonna be sourcing the equipment soon and hopefully will a get few other ppl involved as well.

remember, PTAWUG doesnt provide internet, it is just a network with local services running, not connected to the internet

Ptawug

Yesterday night another gaming server came online on the wug. This time it's a War3 frozen throne server :). seems like gaming is picking up on the wug!!!

it's just awesome to sit at home, playing css or any other game with people from all over gauteng and not paying a cent for it with pings between 10 and 40ms. permanent free LAN :)

have you checked line of sight to Erasmusrand highsite ?

PTAWUG slogan: "If you dont have coverage, you dont sit on your arse and wait for some one else to put equipment up and make a plan - you make a plan do it yourself"

Giffie lives 30km north of PTA on a farm - he has no line of sight to any PTA highsites so he drove around and found a koppie on a farm and asked the farmer if he can put up a tower to relay the signal to the network. He then built a 12m tower, dug a foundation and put the tower up connecting to the Magalieskruin highsite and his house. Goes to show, if there is a will there is a way.

oupa = Erasmusrand Highsite

It's going up on 14 July - we still need a few rands for the sector antenna that is going to provide coverage to the south - check www.ptawug.co.za - Highsite Upgrades page
