Giffie lives 24km from the closest node - north of the magalies. he did not have direct line of sight from his house, so he drove around, found a farm with line line of sight between his house and pretoria north, asked the owner if he could put up a tower. Put up 18m steel tower and he is now linked to PTAWUG, since last weekend.

Never fear, WUG is here!
Hey FaNIX, i know where that is, and yeah, it's a bit "in the corner". Maybe you can try to talk to ppl from jawug, as one site between you and Grand Central could maybe get you connected. I also had no line of sight or hopes whatsoever, but we printed flyers and "spammed" alot of people on a specific hill, and we got results. Now we have a highsite to link me. SO, reallly, like Protz said, where there is a will, there is a way. Maybe within a few months, PTAWUG will cover that area as well, but for now, try to find a link to jawug. We are connected to jawug anywayz...

greedyflyza im still new to this network stuff,to my understanding there are 2 of these network groups. I stay in the MOOT area and want to connect to my friends in Centurion, how possible is this?And How would I go about getting the correct equipment?Whats my options?

I think in your case you would connect to the nearest PTAWUG highsite and then rely on good connectivity between PTAWUG and PWP to connect to your friends in Centurion. Unless of course your friends hookup directly to PTAWUG.
For the equipment, it would be worthwhile to pop into the respective IRC channels on the different networks and also read through the websites. You'll get info and typical equipment lists on there. I'm pretty sure the guys on IRC will help you out with specific answers though.

Hey Guys! We are finally in Centurion as well. For all our long time supporters and wannebe wuggers, now is the time to act. Plot yourself (your location) on www.wug.za.net, download the KML file into Google Earth, and check where you are, where our highsites are and get a move on! We have coverage of all the major hills in Centurion, and through highsites on those hills, we will be able to cover the whole centurion.

We have coverage of around 80% of PTA, from Centurion to PTANorth, so add your and your buddies locations on www.wug.za.net, check the intro on www.ptawug.co.za and if you have any other questions, join us on IRC chat. Get a IRC program like mIRC, www.mirc.com, connect to the server irc.ptawug.co.za and join the channel #ptawug. We are always here to help, chat, assist and mess around. Also, you can use the wugplotter on www.wug.za.net to draw a line of sight diagram between your own site, and a highsite. That way we'll know if you just need kit, or if we need to establish a highsite quickly. :-D

Yeah We have allot of connected members now with most of Pretoria covered. Centurion is the next frontier, we have allready a couple of members connect to our centurion High sites...
And remeber WUG is like your TV license,
