remybfg10k - download the KML file from www.wug.za.net then open it with google earth to see the locations of all the nodes. Then you will be able to see where the Raslouw highsite is and have a look from your roof.
 
protz, my google earth is about 10 version behind, i'll try get the gps co-ords of the HS and check on maps.google.com
 
protz, no downloading at work, and at the moment no internet at home :)

you sould be able to open the KML with maps.google.com but it keeps giving errors this side
 
One great thing about the wug is technical queries like this, gets solved fairly quickly we have so many experts in the field of IT and well life in general, that really there is almost no question that can't at least be answered to a certain extent. From Linux to servers from cars to gardning, would you believe ;) . The wug is so much more than a network it is a gathering of great minds, very similar to MyBB!
 
Frikkie is ge-upgrade onlangs.

Now he is able to do many cool stuff! Episode Info, weather etc.

We basically have anything and everything possible, on the WUG!!

I'm addicted. The only bad thing is, our latest highsite's name is WP (Wingate Park). Go Bulle
 
Come to think of it, i took a walk through Wierda Park Estates and i found a thatch roofed house with an aerial type thingy i saw on the wug site, pointing towards the Mall@Reds, i then also saw on theuns van niekerk the same type device, but it was pointing away from Mall@Reds.

What are your guys suggestions in approaching these people and enquiring about connectivity etc?
 
that's not normally how we do it. have you gone onto IRC and asked about a signal test? If there is a highsite you can already connect to then that will be the easiest option. Based on your location, it may be tricky but a signal test is still recommended

But if you want to approach those guys and get them on the WUG, cool.. The more the merrier!
