The biggest permanent LAN - PTAWUG

Wug is great, the DW site will improve the overall WUG experience so much! We already have a couple of people in that area connected! This really is a win win situation, sure you must spend some money on the initial equipment to be able to connect, but that is it, donations and such drive this, we don't require a montlu carhge or anything once you are connected you are connected, the more people join the better, ala snowball effect!

24X7 lan, People playing all sorts of games all through the night and day, people on IRC sharing ideas and helping solve problems it really is a community of people interacting on so many different levels!

Where else can you get download speeds of over 2/3MB/s+ for free with no cap limits!
No monthly payments what so ever!
I don't have internet and since I joined PTAWUG I don't plan on getting.

I used to be part of PTAWUG, but moved to KZN recently.
The only thing I miss about gauteng is PTAWUG! I still remember the early days when we were only 5 people in IRC. Today there is +- 70 people permanently on IRC.
Its a great place to learn new things, and meet new and interesting people.
I think PTAWUG and JAWUG are one of the biggest wifi networks in the country. PTAWUG alone have 157 connected people!

People that are not connected is really missing out!

i cant believe Die Wilgers Highsite (7m steel mast on top of the mountain) survived last night's storm. The original builder of the tower probably sunk some earthing rods into the rock beneath the tower.

we are 165 members on PTAWUG now. COD4 every evening, kill kill kill.
 
I have also been a member now for 2 weeks... and can really recommend joining a wug (whether it be PTA WUG or one in your area).

Although it is a community network, the support and help is excellent (just jump on IRC and someone is bound to help you fix things - even relationships ;) )

I know the initial capital outlay might be daunting (I had to borrow the R2200), but it has been worth every penny!

TIP: just make sure your can connect before making the decision.... but that is true with any Wireless (even DSL) service

Okay, so i have now found four houses in my area that have the weird radio receivers on their roof

1) one in Rooihuiskraal road, opposite the Mall @Reds
2) One in the Reeds, if you drive up Rooihuiskraal road towards SamRand road, just before the circle
3) One on Theuns Van Niekerk, close to the East entrance of Wierda Park estates
4) One in Wierda Park Estates, Partridge road

Amazing! Wonder if they are part of PTAWug?
