Ok, I went through the process:

I got my co-ords, downloaded the KML file and then checked on google earth.

Now, what am I looking for? Only the little suns (operational transits)? Are those the points I should be aiming for?

And once I have the points I think I can connect to, I use the LOS proggy on the site to see if I have LOS...... right?

Yeah like louisp said, join the irc channel. Look on google earth to see where the closest HS is to you, do a LOS calculation on wug.za.net and see. If you do not have LOS to a HS try a alternative, look for the closest connected person to your place and once again do a LOS and if you have LOS to that certain person try to organize with him to put up a 5.8 omni or something for you to connect to.

fook, here at work i cant do the following:

2) Download nada, no zips, no kml, no google earth

So i'm doing the online google earth map thing to see if i can get my location lat & long

One dumb question, if you had a notebook with a wifi card and you were standing next to the tower, would it connect?

Funny though, if i had to stand on my roof i can easily see the mall @ reds, nothing in the way, so i would've thought that i was at the "top" of the valley

Hey,

I've checked aswell, it seems that you might not have LOS. The Rasslouw HS is near Speskop and that water tower.

Best thing to do is to get the test kit to your place and scan!!
