The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

I do a caffeine free preworkout. Why use caffeiene? It's addictive and your body goes through withdrawal when you stop.

Bud did you not read my post? :) I am going in to a cutting phase which means less carbs and less energy so concerned I might feel a bit flat/tired/low on energy thus considering adding a little caffeine to my pre workout for energy.

Caffeine is a short term fix but makes you lethargic in the long term. The short term fix is to satisfy your withdrawal and only elevates you to normal level - the buzz you get is an illusion created by the low you were on from withdrawal. That's been tested and proven.

Drink more water IMO.

Saw 'Thor: Ragnarok' tonight. His arms are massive. You guys reckon he has to be on the juice when preparing for that role?

Ride it out. Wait for your body to adapt to your new diet. If you're still feeling uninspired after a month, get a preworkout with low caffeine and high beta-alanine. Just be prepared for the tingles if you haven't done beta-alanine before.

I personally hate the feeling, but most seem to like the feeling of energy and focus.

Hi guys

Looking for an app that I can use at the gym. Currently mainly working on weight loss. Doing the sitting bike thing for about 45 min then doing lifts. I have back issues so preferably something that won't **** it up worse.

At a full gym so I believe everything I need is available. I Do need to build some muscle as well. Any recommendations?

Edit: doing 3 times a week currently to fit with bf's schedule

If you have back issues, I recommend seeing a personal trainer/biokineticist to help put a program together for you. If you don't want to lay out the cash for a bio/PT, I would start with an easy program from www.bodybuilding.com. I don't know any apps that offer the same quality programs as bodybuilding.com. If any lift hurts your back, don't do it. Also, your back issues may get better if you strengthen those muscles and your core (depending on what the issue is exactly). However, I would seek the guidance of a professional. "Back issues" is very broad.

Dieting and bulking can be tricky. Just make sure you watch your macros (protein/fat/carbs). If you want to build, you will have to go less aggressive on the caloric deficit. However, as someone starting out, you may be able to pick up some muscle quite quickly.

I'll check it out thanks

The 45 minutes on the sitting bike thing, do that after your lifts. Oh and i guess warm up first, so maybe ten minutes on a bike (or rowing machine) before your lifts. Rowing machine might aggravate your back issue though if your form is not correct.

Anybody here do HIIT?

Yes. Minimum of once a week. Try to fit in two sessions if time allows.

Simple 80m sprints up our incline street next to house. Sprint up, walk back down, sprint up, walk back down, repeat until you want to die!

Currently I do 14 sets before I stop, knowing that I will puke on the 15th. When I hit 15 I will increase the sprint distance to 100m.

Does it really grow muscle mass?

My fav HIIT session involves:

15 weighted jumping squats (ass to the grass)
20 weighted jumping lunges
10 weighted one leg deadlifts (per leg)
30 weighted high knees
Rest 1:30

Repeat x3 or 4 if you're up to it. For weight - around 15-20 kilos is what i do. I use an ez-bar with a bit of padding or towel wrapped around the middle for your neck.
Few leg sessions will do you like this one.

Some more pretty good functional HIIT included in Sixpack Shortcuts on certain days:

Fck knows. I exclusively lift heavy weights for that purpose. But it certainly helps with endurance during my lifting sessions.

HIIT is purely there to improve my cardio and I do HIIT because I get bored out of my mind if I have to do LISS cardio for longer than 15min.

I want to be a little heavier, have more muscle. So i started taking hyperbolic mass. Its working i gained 2, 5 kgs. Im 74 kgs now. I feel good when training, training a bit harder. But the shake bloats me and i feel my stomach is sticking out a bit. I pride myself in keeping my stomach flat at 35. I dnt want a fat stomach, its sucks.

I dnt eat alot, so the supplements work for me. What do i do? More cardio? Should i continue with this product. Help

Once or twice a week will keep your heart in good condition which helps a ton with consistency in pushing heavy weights... and conditioning muscles for functional use will help with strength.

Those 'mass builders' are loaded with carbs and will make you heavier for sure but not healthy IMO. Best to stay lean while you gain. Rather eat healthy food.
