The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

So, I've started my new program last night, complete with protein powder and creatine monohydrate.

What do you guys do as far as taking carbs pre/post workout goes?

I've been doing a lot of reading, and it looks like while increased levels of cortisol are necessary during exercise, leading to more muscle growth, you want to lower cortisol quickly after exercise. The best way to do that is to eat something that spikes your blood sugar - carbs.

So anyway, I was considering my options, including simply adding sugar to my protein shakes, when I thought, hey lets look at a peanut butter sandwich vs a bar of chocolate.

Now get this - white bread has a higher glycemic index than chocolate! Chocolate won't spike your blood sugar as much as white or even brown bread does. Hectic! And I ate bread for years. I should have just eaten chocolate for lunch, it would have been healthier.

Before workout a peanut butter sandwich does it for me. Then after workout around 500g of bananas followed by a liter of milk (protein)

A guy I used to work with would add Dextrose to his post-workout shake. Seemed to work for him.

with that level of dedication/effort to go into things like this I expect your are/or are on your way to being a beast?

how much do you weigh and more or less body fat ratio?

I want to. 1.86m tall, 88kg, 20% body fat, BMI around 25. Not strong at all to be honest, lots and lots of strength to build.

Look I'm not expecting overnight results, I know this will take time. I'm hoping to have made some gains by the end of the year.

But I am very serious about it - I want to optimize the results I get.

ok fair enough.

I was just thinking that things like this only really start to matter when you are pushing limits past the average.

Look maybe it won't benefit me that much yet.

But I'm a scientist at heart, so I want to understand how my body works so that I can "game the system" essentially. I've come up with a decent system I think.

There is a lot of contradicting information out there, so finding a scientifically supported point of view is sometimes difficult. Lots of bro-science!

Hey friends, do any of you eat cottage cheese regularly? I want to implement it in my diet as something in-between meals, but have no clue what to pair it with. Tried some sugar with bananas, was ok, not something I want to do again. Also tried with peanut butter, never again.

Does anyone have a dumbbell bench at home? Or a similar weight bench?

How disassembleable are they? Could you take it apart and pack it away after use?

Or can someone check the next time they go to gym whether it looks like you could take those benches apart after use.

Probably not, unless it is made that way to be portable.
You could probably make some brackets, and hang it up on a wall afterwards.

I have a Trojan dumbbell bench. Use it for barbell bench press too.

Not made to disassemble at all.

Think the bracket idea and hanging it is a good idea.

Thanks.

Do you think you could store it upright somewhere? Like lean it against something?

Thinking I need to find the space for this.

Ja it will easily store upright to save space.

Lightweight enough to quickly put it in the corner after a workout.

This new trend of "training masks", I've never seen an easier way to make yourself look like an idiot.
