The Bodybuilders Thread: Circuit II

Thanks never heard of them before. Has anyone had the Wheytella flavor USN Premium Whey?
Yes. Tastes OK mixed with only water. It is quite thick compared to nutritech. It doesn't mix as easily as Nutritech, but the USN tornado shaker mixes it without lumps if you pour the powder into the water and not vice versa. I mix nutritech cookies and cream with a little of the nutella, then it tastes good. 8/10.

Nutritech Banana - Not very 'banana'ey. Still tastes good. 8/10. I add a little banana essence to turn it into a steri stumpie --> 8.5/10
Nutritech Strawberry - Delicious. 9/10
Nutritech cookies and cream - Tastes like a vanilla and choc mix. 8/10
Nutritech Cinnabomb - Basically vanilla with a slight hint of cinnamon. 7.5/10. I shake in some extra ground cinnamon to make it an 8/10

All of those are with water only, using 1 scoop per 100ml

Add some ripe frozen banana and a few ice cubes to the already mixed Nutritech Banana Cream and blitz with a blender it is insanely good.

I do high bar.

Probably all in the mind but it just feels safer for me because I work out alone. Always felt to me that the bar has a much bigger chance of slipping and causing injury when you lose form for a moment.

I've been doing high bar for the last while - but decided to give low bar a try this morning.

I find with high bar the bar and my arms and shoulders feel a lot more comfortable than with low bar - but the actual squat feels a lot more comfortable and natural with the low bar.

low bar is easier than high bar.

Also interesting tidbit, if you ever do a competition. If you practiced high bar, you can just as easily switch to low bar, but not the other way around. If you practiced low bar, you can probably forgetting even doing 70% of the same weight on high bar.

High bar exercises a bit more muscles, but at the end of the day, either is fine, as long as you squat

Ps. I do high

I do high bar. Apparently low is better if you have dodgy knees.

Low bar here because of habit and technique taught during my powelifting years.

Once you get comfortable it's much more stable than high bar and there is less strain on your body.

Guys who train alone, how do push yourself to the limit?

I finally got fed up of being in my plateau and asked a stranger for a spot today. The bro helped me in my final set of flat barbell bench press and incline dumbell chest press. I managed to eek out 4 extra reps compared to usual and got a way better burn in the target muscle. Without a spot i am afraid to push at that point because you know... possible death.

So short of getting a gym buddy which i am trying to do. What other ways do you guys use to keep pushing you limits?

I train alone - and manage to push hard on everything except barbell bench press - I've failed once and had to roll the bar off of me and that's not too much fun.

Have the same issue... I now just ask someone to spot me on my power set.

Yip me too.... and my boss was on the bench next to me! :o

Does anyone use the Smith machine to go heavy than they can manage on a free bar? I am seriously considering it.....:erm:
Although the one at our gym doesnt run perfectly perpendicular to the ground. It has a bit of a slant...
