Workout done and dusted....

If I didn't do it now I would not have done it at all.

Is it easier to cut fat when you have a lot more muscle?

I have been on a proper bulking diet for the past 7 weeks now. I've gained a good amount of muscle but also lost quite a bit of definition due to the fat I've gained along with the muscle. Probably going to try cut down on the body fat % in the new year.

It always seems like the pro bodybuilders and especially pro boxers/MMA fighters cut down on body fat so much quicker than the average guy.

Yes! Muscle uses energy. The more muscle you have the more fat you can burn.

Thanks. I thought so.

Where do one start burning muscle instead of fat?

Does it happen easily or only once you get into the lower BF % range?

In order to cut, a caloric DEFICIT over an extended period of time is needed. A deficit of around 200-400 calories will generally suffice. Whilst remaining in a slight deficit, ensure that protein consumption is slightly boosted. This should assist with satiety (feeling fuller for longer) and may help with minimizing lean tissue loss. Furthermore, protein has a higher thermic effect compared to carbs or fats which essentially means it requires more calories to be digested.

If you are interested in a much more detailed explanation have a look at this thread: http://www.muscletalk.co.za/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=25

Not in bodybuilding. Ahh there is so many awesome things I found the only thing separating you and me from our dream body, is dedicated follow through.

I struggle with it actually. Like I have the science and understanding, but lately I just don't feel motivated anymore ever since I moved I just feel unmotivated

Yes! Muscle uses energy. The more muscle you have the more fat you can burn.

This explains why it took me 5 months to lose 10kg.

I've got the muscles of starving Ethiopian but with 13kg of fat that had to lost. I only have 3kg more to go.

It's been all the damn wine and mountains of cookies my Mrs has been baking over the last 2 weeks that's making me feel lethargic. I secretly think she's trying to mess with my diet, mission accomplished :p

Jokes aside, it's the silly season so I assume after the New Years parties the guilt will set in from all the indulgence and it's back to the normal

Yea I am dying to get serious again.

Building muscle used to be so easy for me, but up until about 3 months ago.. I don't it's like I lost complete interest and I mean I was top notch 103KG bodyfat was 9%

Atm I am sitting at 121Kg bodyfat 18%

I partied amd lost sight of shiat.

But I started to actively diet again now and is seriously working on it to start a new 12 week Program for a start.

Was thinking German Volume training and then 4 weeks of DTP

I'm too afraid to take a break. Because I know that I will struggle to get back into it again.

Might be forced to take a break soon though. Depending on the diagnosis from the orthopaedic surgeon on my knee. Have an appointment on 7 January.

Thor you know what mate, you'll get into it again within the next few weeks because it's something we enjoy and a break will have done you a world of good if only to make you realize how much you enjoy working out. Readjust the goals, get focused on the new goals and start again.

Apoc, like you I also had major knee issues but when I explained to the Doc that I wanted to continue working out he helped me around the issues with medication and exercises, turns out I just needed to strengthen the muscles around the knee to carry on. With some major luck you can avoid surgery that will put you out of action for an extended period.

Unfortunately I have a bad history with my knee. Old rugby injuries. Already had 4 ops by the time I finished school.

It actually went well for the past 10 years. Now that I started pushing my limits again, the old problems are flaring up again.

I'm at a stage where I can only do leg days every 2nd week because that is how long it takes for the swelling to subside.

Isn't it that your body only starts using your reserves (fat) after about 45mins of working out? Or did I read that wrong? I'm a hard-gainer, but have been out of the loop for a while (started last week) and have this stubborn fatty, bloated stomach that I desperately need to get rid of somehow  I know it basically boils down to energy in vs energy out, where you need to burn more than you're taking in.

I'm trying my best to cut wheat out of my diet completely, as I've noticed my stomach only swells up after I've eaten it. Life without bread, though...

Become a brah and skip legs entirely! :D
