Those I got from the label on the package I always bought and it will be different depending on the meat/fat ratio, so hardly a fact that 300g is 41g :whistling:. Google rates 100g lean mince as 21g, so 250g should be around 53g, that's pretty close to 60? Besides, the figures wont always be 100%, and that's not the point of the discussion...

That's true, yea actually all in all that's not a bad diet at all.

But how do you portion your meals ?

How do you mean? Those were my meals :) Only ate twice a day, pre and post workout

Edit: Meaning I ate around 13:00 and then at 20:00 after workout

Holy cow dude, what are your body stats (weight, height)? Are you doing intermittent fasting then?

I think you are eating about 4 times what I could eat in any one meal without feeling stuffed!

I find I have to eat about every 3.5 hours, else I feel very depleted. But also can't eat too much in one meal without feeling stuffed and lethargic.

Just because I can't imagine consistently eating that much more than I'm eating now at the weight and muscle mass I'm at now. What would my body do with all those calories.

Dude, in order for me to eat 3500 calories i had to eat until the food was pushing against my esophagus. This in combination with drinking hot water before a meal to stretch the tummy lead to my gains, which was short lived because when I cut I lost alot of that weight.

What is the thinking around this? If you eat clean above maintenance x amount of calories, you will have lean gains, WHEREAS if you eat dirty x amount of calories then you will have a higher fat gain than eating clean?

There is a guy called Paulo Sportz on FB, who doesn't seem to agree with this. He is in the IIFYM camp.

Yeah dude we all make mistakes, learnt from it though lol.I was just saying that is is possible to eat 3500-4000 calories a day.

I agree with Paulo, if you eat clean above maintenance you cant expect to pack on lean mass without some sort of steroid.4-5kgs a year of lean muscle mass is the maximum you can put on naturally.Eating above that, all will turn to fat even if you eat clean. Its the bodies natural process, all excess nutrients are turned to fat.

1.86, last recorded weight was 80.5kg. :) And spot on, I was doing leangains with a semi RPT training programme. It worked well for me and I'll revisit it soon. The only problem I had was the post workout meal, which is where I piled up most of my carbs, sometimes it was a bitch to finish, but I always did ;)

I started leangains at around 91kg and went down to 80.5kg while getting much stronger. It truly worked wonders for me, but yea, not everyone's cup of tea!

Tests are all back from the doc and luckily all clean.

Unfortunately my old injuries are the problem and if cortisone injections are not going to kill the inflammation and swelling, he will have to do arthroscopy to clean up my knees.

Now here is the problem. He said I should totally avoid squats and lunges. Those are my 2 main exercises on leg day along with stiff legged deadlifts, hack squats and calf raises.

But he says I can do leg extensions and curls. I can also do leg presses but should limit my motion to 90degree bend, nothing further.

None of these will happen because I am a home gymmer. I didn't even bother to tell him that.

I'm no doctor and the doc is most definitely not a bodybuilder but why would I not be allowed to do squats but allowed to leg presses? Aren't the forces more or less the same?

Legg press is a lot less strain on knees than squads.

Don't ask me why...

When I.had a knee injury I managed leg presses but could not squad

Leg press hurts my knees - but squats don't.

I have found that I need to keep my knees pointing outwards while squatting - otherwise it is less the comfortable.

Might then be dependent on the type of knee injury I guess.

I haven't had any discomfort during or after squatting.

What else can I do at home with free weights instead of squats or lunges?

Asked the gym if I could bring my own plates - no. Can I donate a set - no. Spoke to manager he'll run it by his director.

Once again, if their plates looks totally different to the ones you can buy, just put them in your gym bag and use them when you need them. Keep the receipt if you must.

I really don't see how this will be an issue, since they don't even have 1.25s.
