You'll need your own 1.25kg plates if you want to follow SL5x5 properly. I didn't get, but if you're so inclined, then go for it :D

On another note, I have had a couple of bouts of vertigo occurring about a year ago, it went away before I could see the ENT specialist. Feel something coming on again now... it has made me nervous about pushing too hard in case I spaz out and hurt myself :(
Did you add 5kgs each workout?

Buy 2x 1.25s and donate them to the gym IMO. They're cheap enough. Explain why you're doing it - perhaps they'll buy them from you / discount your next fee.
Cool idea. Where to buy?

First check what size the bars are to make sure you get the right size weights. Places to buy would be sportsmans warehouse, makro, game, mr price sports, etc. though they may not have olympic bar size weights. Check with the gym what size bars they have (measure the bar diameter) then check with those shops. If they don't have, then ask the Gym for advice on where to get them. Explain what you want to achieve, I'm sure they'll be helpful.

So, just had my first stronglifts workout. I didn't feel as big a tit lifting an empty bar as I thought I would. I wouldn't call it challenging but I did start to feel it towards the end.
I noticed that they don't have 1.25 plates at my gym. Would it be weird if I bought my own and took them along?

I did it and actually bought my own 1.25 and 2.25 Olympic plates. My gym has them, but only one set of each, which means many times they are not available.

The ones I bought looks totally different to plates my gym use, so I didn't even bother declaring them at the front desk. I have never gotten flack for using them (they are small anyway), and just carry them in my gym bag around with me.

I think I bought mine from Active Africa - they have a branch at Atterbury Value Mart (Pta) (it seems their website is @#$@% at the moment).

For the regular gym goers: how's your gym looking? geez...yesterday in Wembley was like pulling teeth, so busy. Luckily it was squat day for me so I didn't have to use lots of equipment.

I'll paint mine pink or something.

So, what are your guys experiences with upping your calorie intake? I'm struggling to eat around 2800 calories a day since Sunday and I probably should be getting over 4k.
Most meals are actually a hardship from the first bite. I haven't felt hungry since Monday evening and the thought of food makes me a little nauseas.

Are you lactose intolerant? Milk is an easy way to pump up intake.

just a question, why do you think you need 4k calories per day?

During my bodybuilding days I used to go at 7k a day.

Luckily I'm done with that life so set at 3-4K a day now.

But clean calories

Brown rice, sweet patato chicken fish or eggs.

That's just me

I bought a book years ago called Scrawny to Brawny the premise for which is that for skinny feckers trick to growing muscle is eating a moer of a lot.

It has a formula for calculating calorie intake which worked out to 4000 calories for me.

I'm beginning to think is BS.

Yea okay, but for someone starting on SL 4k seems unnecessary? Especially if you can't hold down 2800...dunno, best advice I ever got was to prioritize protein and listen to your body regarding eating. Just my 2c ;)

Totally agree 4k is a fck load

2800 is more than enough if making protein 60% carbs 20% fats 30% for example

Although with my body I tend to go

Protein 60% carbs 40%

The fats will be natural occurring ie, when I cook my meat.

Ah okay, I'm no expert by any means so talk any advice with a grain of salt, but I wouldn't push myself to the point of nausea. What I would do however is to make sure I eat at a surplus everyday and get 150-300g of protein in. As you progress you will know when you need more food.
