Where do you gym, I haven't seen a VA with dumbells heavier than 50kg? Yes - properly warmed up - its just a problem getting them above my head.

I sit with the a dumbell on each knee - and then as I lie back I try and lift them up with my knees... not exactly safe without a spotter.
Old Eds in houghton. It goes up to 65kg dumbbells. I use the same technique for positioning the weights with my knees.

I recon if I could just have the dumbbells in position for lifting - I'd easily manage 45kg a side.... Need to find two spotters, one for each dumbbell.

This I disagree with. If you are not strong enough to lift the weights on your own "safely" then they are too heavy for you. The whole point of the dumbbell presses are that they provide additional stresses in a multitude of directions, unlike bench which is relatively stable. The whole point is that they are more difficult;t and thus require a lighter weight to get a good workout. Do more dips(and weighted dips later on) in conjunction with the DB presses and I reckon you will be blowing them off your chest in no time. More spotters is not the answer.

The actual weights are light once up - I can do 10 reps with relative ease - I could probably go to about 20 if I pushed it, but high reps are not what I'm after..proper form and all... the majority of the guys in the gym require assistance getting the 'heavier' dumbbells positioned properly

Currently doing around 60-70kg weighted dips - the only issue I'm having is with dumbbell bench presses.

Hmmm, thats weird then. So you are weak initially off your chest then. Once you get going the "momentum" of the weight helps you get it up again. All I can suggest is try this as an alternative. Go slightly lighter with the weights and then pause on your chest before you press upwards. It should be difficult at first but you should be able to strengthen that weakness out pretty soon I reckon. Lots of people at the gyms are a bit weak straight off their chest, I reckon if you sort that out then you'll see you can handle a lot more weight easily :)

Cool - will give it a try :p My chest has always been my weak point.

Thats still weird though because deep weighted dips gives you a nice strong chest as well. That said, I do go very deep :p

Give the pauses a go and let us know if it helps you at all.

Ah - I'm using the dedicated weighted dip machine - I can't go too deep because I'm to tall for the damn machine... my tri's are pretty strong though in comparison to my chest.

Ooooooh :D Now I understand. Get yourself a weight belt, hook in the DB onto the weight belt and jump on the normal Dips apparatus. With you own body weight added to the weight it becomes a totally different ballgame. Your chest will man up in no time :D

Im not sure if xrapidx does the same as me, but with dumbells my initial rep is always mostly a negative. I do this for two reasons.
1) I guage how far down I'm going before I do the positive
2) You should not be dropping rapidly :)D) to start with

I would not say it's a case of being "weak" off the chest on the initial lift. If you use the method rapid uses to get the dumbells back, then you are most likely 'resting' the weight in either a comfortable position or in a state where you are not flexing. Yes being able to push the weight off your chest is an indication of strength, but it is not an accurate representation of one's true potential with regard to weight.

My triceps are strong, thus my bench is stronger, but it doesn't always work out that way.

How I Got Ripped In 4 Weeks Using The Same Supplements As The Actors In The 300 Movie!

Hey guys, my name is Lance from Cape Town, South Africa. I been updating this blog to tell you guys how I finally got completely ripped, after years of trying every supplement and workout known to man.

Lance changes location depending on where you are. My friend in Norway loaded the page and over there, Lance is from Brisbane Australia :p

EDIT: Can anyone vouch for these products in any shape or form? The service seems to involve them charging you monthly following the "free" trial that they send u, or it can also take the shape of outright charging you for the trial at the full normal price.

I know what you are trying to say, by placing yourself in a "weak" position initially the first push becomes difficult, BUT if you have handled weights enough you know where you are strong and where to push from to gain maximum benefit. Thus I can only conclude that he is still a bit weak off the chest when he has to push from a static position. It's something that should sort itself out quickly, it's just a matter of realizing what the possible problem is and adapting to it.

EDIT: Oh and I use the exact same method rapid uses to get the dumbbells back with no problem whatsoever. And I'm not sure about the "true potential" aspect with respect to getting the weight off your chest. It's fine to be strong in some areas but we surely strive to be strong all around..? Ie. there are enough upside down wine bottles walking around at gym already :p

That's part of the package you will need to accept when "bulking-up" I think. All those carbs. :) When you start cutting again you will throw off the little bit of fat and hopefully feel less bloated.

What you say about strength/weakness is true. xrapidx has confirmed that his chest possibly needs some work which means it will sort itself out. The true potential I refer to is the maximum weight you can achieve doing the reps on your own, but getting an assist on the initial 'flat' push. As mentioned, I also use the same method on dumbells.

Yeah the V taper is only meant to run to your hips.... not to your toes :p :D
It's too easy to get obsessed with upper body size. I think it was Branch Warren who said, "If you want big arms, train legs!".

Legs I have no problem with (in comparison to upper-body my legs are strong). I remember reading that the average guy can leg press 2.5 times his body weight... and I'm way-way over that... closer to 4x

Squatting a max of around 160kg... but this is mainly do to a knee injury I don't want to give way on me.

I see this all the time. Big guys with chicken legs. I always lol when I see noobs doing endless curls and ab work, staring in the mirror checking out their pump.

Not worried

Don't you think its a little ironic that VPX would label Purus Labs as a "blackmarket supplement company" on the basis that they sell prohormones/designer steroids when until recent years VPX was pushing this line up...

Thanks for the support fellas, and thanks for not falling for the tactics being employed by our competitors. For better or worse, what is on our label is in our product, we will conduct ourselves with integrity, and we will always be 100% real and honest.
