Old Eds in houghton. It goes up to 65kg dumbbells. I use the same technique for positioning the weights with my knees.Where do you gym, I haven't seen a VA with dumbells heavier than 50kg? Yes - properly warmed up - its just a problem getting them above my head.
I sit with the a dumbell on each knee - and then as I lie back I try and lift them up with my knees... not exactly safe without a spotter.
I recon if I could just have the dumbbells in position for lifting - I'd easily manage 45kg a side.... Need to find two spotters, one for each dumbbell.
This I disagree with. If you are not strong enough to lift the weights on your own "safely" then they are too heavy for you. The whole point of the dumbbell presses are that they provide additional stresses in a multitude of directions, unlike bench which is relatively stable. The whole point is that they are more difficult;t and thus require a lighter weight to get a good workout. Do more dips(and weighted dips later on) in conjunction with the DB presses and I reckon you will be blowing them off your chest in no time. More spotters is not the answer.
