Any PT who's aim is to better you should look at your diet first. Pointless working your ass off if you've got nothing to fuel the change.
I hear you... I guess I'm not concerned about that because I kinda know I need to eat more of the right stuff if I am gonna be working my ass off. I will certainly ask questions if I am uncertain though.

Monday's session was to benchmark my squats and bench press. We'll also benchmark overhead press and deadlifts next.

They kinda know me there by now cause I did kettlebell / high intensity cardio / strength classes there during May.

The trainers there are somewhat involved in the one facebook group I am on and whenever they give their 2 cents it's oretty informed stuff.

So got to try my new trap bar out last night, but instead used it for squat/deadlifts

Loaded her up with 100kg

To get the balance was awkward at first and I actually thought I could lift much heavier than what I deadlift, you definitely use more leg power using this bar and I could feel my legs where the weak point.

Went into squats afterwards and managed only 4 sets, legs where like jelly afterwards.

After a week off from gymming to let my shoulder rest I'm bloody sore today, after using this bar and squats the body parts hurting are glutes, quads, hamstrings and upper back, not so much my traps but rather upper lats.

I think I should go for blood tests.

I feel chronically ill.

I stepped on the scale today as well, I've lost 8 kilograms.
Dude that sounds very serious. I can easily lose weight, but I haven't lost that much that fast ever.

That said, I really hope it is not something terrible, but I would see a Doc asap if I were you.

Anyone have good tips for boosting energy levels and keeping them up during the day?
I am over feeling lethargic all the time.

I'm the same. I've not started using NeuroCore pre-workout before gym, still not sure if it works. I used to use a lot of ephedrine back in the day, but I won't touch that stuff again, although it works like magic.

I want to avoid supplements and "Energy boosters" as I believe they always have a side effect. Like coming off a high and crashing.

2 best preworkouts for energy that I have used so far are N.O Xplode and Neurocore. But, that won't keep you going all day. Neurocore lasts about 2 hours. N.O Xplode 1h30m.

In my experience, I got this fixed after I made going to gym everyday a habit, and make sure that I get enough sleep in each night. I used to sleep like only 6-7 hours, but once I got it up to 8 hours exact, I started feeling much better during the day.

With that, I don't drink coffee with caffeine or any other caffeine drinks any more.

Also make sure, you eat enough healthy food and stay hydrated during the day and get in all your vitamins, and I am not talking about the cheap vitamin supplements that do you more harm than good.

Do all of the above, and you will feel great every day all day, worked for me, and literally changed my life. Loving it.

I don't think so?

Iv'e started up on Herbalife's Thermojetics pill or tea, twice a day. Its a slow release pill which keeps me going all day until i hit the gym in the evenings.

Best thing is there aren't any side effects.

6 weeks of no gyming due to a dodgy back strain, flu, sinus infections and all of the associated symptoms... I lost 12kg's during this time and I was eating a **** load of rubbish comfort food. This can only mean one thing, bye bye hours and hours of muscle building.

Anyway, my back strain worried me quite a bit so the doc said that I should focus on building my core muscles instead. What do you guys do to build your core muscles? Do you focus on building them? I know there are a good few core exercises to do but what would you guys recommend which will build muscle as well?

I use to do GSP's Rushfit program a few years ago and find this very effective in building core muscles and in getting more "functionally fit". So I started this program again today (Because right now im seriously unfit and stiff like a ...) However, this program isnt really designed to build muscle, which is what I want to do as well. So my plan is to do GSP's program every other day and a muscle building core exercise routine on other days (full time focus on core for at least 2 months). What do you guys think? Thank in advance ;)

I'm not really a fan of the gym.
Maybe some general exercises will be good - walking / running ?

Which vitamins are you referring to?
Right now I don't monitor any of my body's intake - but the point of taking part in this thread is to change that. :)

I'm going to start drinking water during the day and staying off the coffee.
Also, I am going to start eating breakfast in the mornings and snacks during the day (Yogurt, fruit) etc before lunch.

Cocaine :p

I find that stretching often helps for me :)

No drugs, thanks :p

When do you stretch? Mornings or just during the day?

Thanks for the tips, guys.

The gym is just one of the things I wanted to do to build strength not specifically just muscle size, that is my morning exercise before work.
Then 2 evenings a week I dance (ballroom/latin), 1 evening is the class where you learn and practice the moves, the 2nd is a social on fridays which usually last +- 2-3 hours, and I decided that I want to dance every song, and I believe this is where I got my fitness up. Usually I can feel my legs the saturday after dancing a lot the friday evening.
The point however is, any exercise that will up your fitness is a good start, doesn't have to be gym.
A colleague at work, also doesn't like to go to the gym, so instead they started an action soccer team and now even compete against other teams. I bet that is something that is fun and at the same time up fitness levels tremendously.

Water instead of coffee is a great idea. We however have this ritual where we get vida coffee in the mornings, so I changed that to a decaf.

If you take vitamin supplements, make sure the vitamins are extracted from natural sources instead of lead and things like that, you can check it by looking at the sources used on the label. Usually the cheaper vitamin supplements don't use natural sources, and those vitamins can't be good for you if you think about it. Here is a link to a article that will explain it better.
