I get such damn shin splints, I'm still bloody sore. And I didn't even push it, 30min/5km
Going to see sports science institute.
And they will probably tell you that it's overpronation and a decent running shoe and possibly compression gear will over time sort it out. I know of two runners who suffered from shin splints and after a full assessment (they are based in the US), they found that the shin splints were caused by a weak core and after 6 weeks of core exercises both had absolutely no pain.
