Yes, that's the obvious answer. I highly doubt VA is gonna let me smear the mats with chalk though :/

On the topic: Any good place to buy some chalk?

Use chalk or colophony resin (cheaply available, bought mine at M-Kem). I've been using it for years in V/A, no problems. Just don't make a mess (stating the obvious here). Gloves ruin deadlifts, and deadlifts ruin gloves. Straps are for pussies :p

My max lift is 265kg at the moment, although I feel pretty confident that I will be able to pull 270 next week. Then you can start with 3-quarter deadlifts. Put a step in the rack, and put the bar on the rack. Get on the step, and lift from there. THat will build your grip. My grip is still holding at 340kg. ;)

Try to not use straps for anything. I ONLY use chalk, not even a weight belt, strenghtens your core muscles and stabilisers. And no, I do not use any roids, supplements, or whatsoever. High blood pressure, you see :D

I used to be one of those idiots who walked around with gloves, straps, belt, etc....

Now I just walk around with a timer and chalk...

I need a timer because I'm terrible at keeping time, I'll either end up resting for 10minutes between sets, or 10 seconds...

Should you wear a belt when deadlifting?
I find it limits me.

Why would it limit you?

Deadlift trains your back, so by wearing a belt you're sort of limiting that training...

I belt is personal preference, some big names do everything with a belt on - I prefer not to wear one ever, every now and then I'll try with squats... but end up taking it off.

I also feel like it limits me. Especially squats are much more comfortable without a belt.

A belt transfers strain from your back muscles to your abs. So you're not getting the whole benefit of some workouts on your back. I learned this in my quad biking days. I'd do a race without a kidney belt now and then - sure as shyte, my back would kill me. Kidney belt on you could literally feel the difference day after on your abs.

If I posted a pic of my body would you criticize me or compliment me?

Depends on where you post it. IF you post it on mybb...well who knows, I don't think the mybb community is the correct place if you want info on what you can improve, again it depends also on what you want. Do you want critique on what is good and what you can work on, or do you just want an epeen boost?

Dunno, rate my progress?

Just post a picture(without your face or balls) so people can tell you what they think and which areas you have to improve on!

What do you fitness guys drink in the way of alcohol ... ?

Abstain totally? Beer? Rum/coke?

Personally, I pretty much stick to Castle Lite. Although water and a shooter every half hour would probably cause less fat gain and still have the same or better effect.

Pretty much nothing. Alc tolerance when training hard is useless for me, possibly due to the low bf% or the liver dealing with supps.

Mostly beer (Castle Draught) and wine (white/red). But only because I'm sick and tired of all the others. Will have a gin & dry lemon now and then, but I drank myself out of gin, don't touch brandy or rum (same story), etc etc. :o

EDIT: Abstain? What's that? :D
