The Cannabis Thread

Everytime someone gives bad advice on this thread it turns out to be a comical experience, like when someone suggested trying two BG biscuits for a beginner.

This time was no different when @Chemogen suggested taking long drags from the Vie, like sipping on a milkshake. Well, it knocked my socks off, and had me giggling for an hour.

Different experience from the Grenco pen which doesn't pack as much weed. While the pen takes 4 or 5 puffs to achieve a good high, this vaporiser only takes 2 puffs. Vie also has various mode combinations, as per the instructions on the manual. Temperature level 2 on dry herb capsule mode is ideal for anyone who only partakes on weekends and not a heavy alcohol user. Taking long drags is not recommended for a beginner.

Weed with a very high THC percentage like Berry OG and White Widow, on anything higher than level 2 heat is harsh and causes coughing.

So far this product is great because you can adjust temperature and mode according to tolerance levels. There is also an auto mode which automatically increases temperature with every puff. Haven't tried the direct load or concentrates mode yet.

So the question begs...
Where can premium product be sourced at the moment...

Lekker! I don't use the pods in my Vie, just do the direct load (which I tamp down with the included spring if I don't fill up the chamber). I generally start on level 2 of the red light and pump it up to level 4 on purple towards the end of the session.

Do you have it all by yourself or pass to a buddy?

Last night I decided to take my lack of cooking skills, and apply them to Brownie pre-mix from PnP.

I did skip a step here and there which I made up with other steps (2AM and 4 bongs makes this possible).

The brownies turned out excellent. Ate 2 of them about an hour ago and experiencing a mild rush. Still not sure if placebo or not. Will know in another hour or so.

Not sure on quantities so used 3.5g of weed to make the butter.
Got a pile of leave coming up so lots of experimenting time.

I would've added more weed. Atleast 10g.

Can you describe your process that you used mixing the butter and cannabis and what temperature, 180 deg?

I also decided to bake some chocolate marie biscuit cookies today. I decarboxylated 20 grams of cannabis for 27 minutes at 120 degrees, the cannabis had exactly the same smell as cannabis after being smoked in a vaporizer. I didn't want to wait to make cannabutter so I mixed 250ml butter with the cannabis over low heat for 15 minutes. Next I strained it through a coffee filter leaving me with 200ml mixture. I added some more butter and melted in a pot, added 500 grams icing sugar, two eggs, two tablespoons of cocoa and one teaspoon of vanilla essence. Stirred over low heat, not boiling and threw it over two packs crushed Marie biscuits and mixed. I licked out the pot, about a tablespoon half and hour ago and I'm already feeling it. I would make proper cannabutter next time and compare as I think there is still quite a lot of THC in the spent weed.

This guy uses his vaped weed to make edibles.

Edit: not sure why it keeps posting the wrong video.

Hello all,

I wondered if anyone had any advice for someone in Cape Town who is basically a beginner (smoked when younger but lost touch with that crowd) and would like to start somewhere reputable, in a way that doesn't attract too much attention and is safe.

I've suffered from OCD and depression since I was a child and have only had minor success with prescribed medicines. One psychiatrist did suggest I try marijuana but had no idea how to get hold of it. In recent years I've been drinking like a fish which has done terrible things to my waistline and whose helpfulness is... well I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Any advice - where to buy, what form and method to use etc. - would be much appreciated. I think I'd be looking for something relatively strong - an escape from the constant self-observation and feelings of responsibility is a large part of what that I want.

Marijuana is not a good treatment for depression. It can relieve anxiety and stress in the short term but studies indicate that, in the long term, chances are good it will worsen your depression. It might be better than drinking, depending on whose opinion you ask, but neither of them are good crutches for sufferers from depression.

Yip,
I suffer from depression. Smoking does not help at all. It relieves anxiety while stoned. But once you are "sober" everything comes back.
If anything smoking has worsen my depression quite significantly.

if OP is using depression as a excuse to smoke weed, then get a new excuse.
If OP really does suffer from depression, then do NOT smoke weed.

Wait, 3.5g for the whole batch? Have you got a weight for the batch?

So depends on who you are making this for, but I wouldnt want anything less than 80mg to 150mg per brownie. So extrapolate from that.

Depending on your weed, lets say if you purchased from somebody, and its outdoor, you will be lucky to get about 8% return per gram for oil. So 3.5g only gets you about 80mg or so of extract from that bud.

If you make 40 brownie squares, thats literally 2mg per slice which is waaaaaay to weak.

If we go on the lower end of the strength, being 80mg (could maybe goto 50mg but I think thats too low, even for newbies), then you need about 25-30gram of weed being extracted to 8-10% of its total weight.

You need a total of about 3.2g of pure oil for that batch to meet the above measurements.. You can go from there, up or down, depending on how strong it needs to be.

I would use 3.5g in one brownie for example.

I've read about the possible links between cannabis and depression, and OCD and cannabis (because this is both, each interlocking with the other - alcohol can sometimes cause a break in the relentless patterns. For me. If not judged correctly it can make things much worse and I'd never recomend it to someone else.

Unfortunately, as with any other option, anecdotes about marijuana vary. Results vary widely with prescribed medication - I've been prescribed things which have helped others and which have done nothing for me. I've been on things that seemed to make my situation worse.

Even exercise, so often touted as a help for depression, only sends me into a deep state of weltschmerz.

I'd just like to try something else; I don't need lectures about excuses.

If you want to smoke weed then do it. Check out 420monkey if you want to buy.

The type and amount of medication they dish out for depression I just cant imagine has positive effects on your body. Cannabis definitely isnt a cure, but it can remove chemical dependencies.

That said, depression ranges quite heavily, and Ive read that cannabis can help with mood stabilization by getting the endocannabinoid system working correctly as well as reducing stress/anxiety caused by external pressures (which result in depression). Stress stops the system producing endocannabinoids which result in depression like systems.. hence cannabis being a good treatment for stress, which is 95% of what everybody is feeling daily.

I cant really say for depression that isnt caused by external factors, and in these instances it could lead to dependence and ultimately make the situation worse if uncontrolled. But I think if used in a controlled manner, perhaps you could get something more from it, compared to just smoking all the time.

I doubt it would hurt to try though, and see where on the spectrum you sit and how it affects you. By asking for advice it does mean you are taking it responsibly which means you are less likely to abuse it. But it does easily become a habit.

@Lapinot 420Monkeys is a good place to start.

Preferably it's best to consult a healthcare professional. If it's not an option for your research first in terms of which strains are used in the US medical industry to treat depression.

My husband suffers from depression but has never properly taken to medication due to side effects. I've seen a significant improvement with his depression since we've started vaping in August. Some strains aggravate the problem so it's been trial and error.

Weed alone does not help. For the first half of the high I get him to talk about his thoughts, which I think he does without feeling the usual overwhelming dispondency. Being stoned also makes me a much better listener, and more insightful.

So far it's going well. Prior to our sessions my husband used to go into these modes that he calls the return of the ugly monster, which he would have at least once every two months if not more.
