@Bryn26: Here is the playlist for the Vdubt25 IPTV service that many of us have been testing out as well as another popular one. Many of the feeds are of a good quality but you will need a decent internet connection to stream them smoothly. Take a look and see if there is anything of interest.

Thanks for the links, although I have no idea what to do with them. It may become clear once I'm actually up and running with the DroidTV and understand XBMC better.

@Bryn26: If you look through the files with a text editor you should be able to read the channel names like Sky Sport 1 etc. I am not sure whether these are preinstalled with the latest firmware otherwise you can refer to this video on how to install the channels.

I've just ordered the 1Gb MXIII and the MX3 remote. :)

@Awesum: Welcome to the Droid TV family! I am sure that you will be very impressed with the capabilities once you start using it.

@silkman: Here are two suggestions from the DroidTV MX and Minix Neo X8-H forums for getting some types of HDDs working.

1) Install Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+ on the DroidTV MX and see if you can read either of your drives. If the HDD drive light comes on for about 15s before shutting down this might solve your problem.

Paragon exFAT, NTFS & HFS+ app - needs to be installed on the MX

2) Try to use the USB port on a PC to power one of the two USB plugs to the drive instead of the Samsung charger if you think that the drive is still not getting enough power.

Hi leonb

Got it working :)

Copy zip to external drive, launch XBMC and choose to install addon from zip file (If it complains about dependency problems, just install again).

After installing, go to XBMC Apps and launch "Frequency Switcher". Select "framerates" and choose the ones you want to use, or modify/add your own before saving the configuration. Now go to service and choose the framerate you want to default to on movie start and exit. Keep notifications on so that you can see what XBMC is adjusting the framerate to. Save configuration again and relaunch XBMC to start the service.

That's it!

Thanks a mil. I'll try it over weekend and let you know.

@patrick123: Many thanks for the useful IPTV links. I am sure that you will really enjoy one of the latest Droid TV machines!

I have never tried changing the MTU which appears to be set at 1472 in my router. What kind of improvements have you noticed with a setting of 1492?

With the setting at 1472, I doubt you will notice any difference compared to 1492. More than 1492, you could experience buffering since the data packet is split into 2 with extra overheads. 1472 seems to take into account the possibility of going through a VPN since VPN also adds its extra overhead on as well. All in all, 1472 should be a fine setting.

Thanks Yotch- I d/l the app- will check it out.
I think it might be best to know what drives DO work with the Mx usb port. Then maybe I could swap my new 2TB Seagate with someone who has a 2TB Mx compatbile drive but doesn't need it on the Mx.

Hey silkman

There's a 5V3A power supply coming with our MXQ order, and it's got your name on it :)

I received my DroidTV MXIII from you guys today. It was ordered Wed evening, so I'm chuffed that I received it Friday morning here in another city.

I'm impressed with the unit so far. The only issue I can't work out how to fix is the UI text going off the screen in XBMC. Streams seem to be playing normally without any cut-off, but the upper clock and miscellaneous info that appear when browsing those blue menus are cut-off awkwardly.

Hi Bryn26,

Glad you got your MXIII before the weekend!

There are two places where you can adjust the screen scale

First check that the Android interface is filling the screen correctly. From the colourful launcher, go "Settings >> Display" and play with the image size adjustment tool. If Android fits your screen perfectly, launch XBMC and navigate to "System >> System >> Video output >> Screen Calibration" and adjust the top left and bottom right corners until they fit.

Let me know if that sorts your issues out?

Thanks

The settings in the colourful menu worked perfectly. Didn't realise the main menus were cut-off until I zoomed out a bit. Thanks!

@Yotch. Not sure if I'm alone on this but neither of the links in your post seem to work from Tap a Talk/my browser?

@silkman: Maybe it's better to wait for this power supply rather than trying to power the drive with your PC just in case something goes wrong! I think that WD drives appear to be more compatble with the DroidTV.

Tried accessing on 2 different browsers. Keeps opening a text file.

That text file is what you save as your *.m3u playlist.

If you want it accessed directly from the internet, you could configure your IPTV simple client as such:
Playlist.PNG

If you download and save the file, you would point it to this locally saved file:
LocalPlaylist.PNG
