The Droid TV thread

Sounds fun. Is it possible to get an xbox controller to work on it?

Side note, just switched to another hdmi cable, still flashes. I have also patched it. Might try v2 just now and see.

Hold off for a bit. Someone mentioned that LAN stopped working after update 2

I'll test again with my unit

Thanks

@d4zza Sorry I missed your issue, I know you said something about screen flickering ... What does it do and when does it do it?

When watching shows or movies in XBMC or MXPlayer every now and again at no set time the screen flashes black for a second then comes back on.

That sounds like an issue with mx player. In mx player can you go to settings, and decode by hardware? Or which ever one its not set to?

Also MX player has various versions, ensure that you have the right one installed based on your box cpu

Or you could uninstall MX player and reinstall it, and then reboot the box and see what happens

I had the same issue, sounds like a HDMI hand shaking issue.
Can you switch the Droid off and the TV or receiver when it does it again and swap the HDMI cable around ... Yeah its sounds stupid but sometimes it works. Sometimes replacing with a decent HDMI cable also works.

By switching around I mean inserting the cable that's usually plugged into the box into the TV or Amplifier or receiver depending on your setup.

Have you tried turning on the status bar to see if this makes any difference? Settings > Display > Hide Status Bar -> Off

This usually prevents crashes when streaming flash files in Dolphin browser.

Cool will try that.

I have also turned off HDMI auto detect, was 1080p 50hz, forced 1080p 60hz. Will see if that fixes it as xbmc was picking it up as 1080p 60hz. Watching an episode now and will see :)

That's a myth in terms of switching the cable around ;) If there is any damage to the hdmi port, whether a slight shift of the port, then the box could become a bit unstable. Or at least that's normal the case. I'm basing this on a charging port that's slightly not aligned properly, where no proper charge wants to hold. So perhaps the same could apply here

60 hz just looks better IMHO. I'm sure we will resolve it on here

Any reason why that would do that?

@Icemanbrfc Nope not a myth ... I have resolved numerous HDMI handshaking issues this way on TVs, receivers, projectors, HDMI splitters and the like.
Also power on from TV to device as this is also a good rule of thumb. Different vendors also have different behaviors so it gets a bit complex. Let's hope the HZ forcing works for @d4zza

Sure no worries. It seems slightly better, not as often for now.

Don't worry, LAN works fine on my MXQ. Install the v2 patch if you want to try it out

To game with the Xbox 360 wireless controller, you will need the USB wireless receiver. I'll test with one tonight and confirm it does or doesn't work

The status bar seems to cause problems with some apps on several of these android media players. There are several reports of problems with the status bar on the latest Tronsmart Allwinner media player. If nothing else works I would also test with the screensaver turned off and also tinker with the GPU hardware acceleration settings in the Developer Options settings menu.

@Lino: One really nice feature of the MXIII is that it comes preloaded with all the apps and XBMC add-ons so you can start using it immediately. I use a T2 air mouse to operate mine which works seamlessly and really improves the experience. The small form factor, quick software installation and simple operation and software maintenance make this an ideal choice for a television.

The YouTube app works very well on this unit - I have watched several YT documentaries (The Men who Made Us Fat etc.) on mine and use it every day to stream YT music videos etc. I also stream daily from Hulu Plus, VEVO, www.usdrama.net, www.shush.se, time4popcorn and XBMC (1channel, ProjectFreeTV, Navi-X, Mash Up, vdubt25) etc.
