The Droid TV thread

Nah, Great ... Scott!! :D

... seriously, no way I'd get involved with the drama of importing stuff from China given what I've read on MyBB. Scotts services are a boon for lazy old farts like me :p
I have bought quite a few ( small) things from China and so far with out incident.

However for this droid box I followed your lead and contacted Scott. The order is placed already :)
Must say the experience gas been rather pleasant.

@xbmcfan, any new firmware update for the HPH? I seem to have alot of youtube stuttering on playback, but not sure what the issue is. I also lost my power button lol, not sure if the last firmware update i flashed caused it to go wonky. as an example, if i completely shut down the HPH, only way i can get it to power back up is removing and putting the power cable back in. Pressing or holding the power button just powers it on, until i let go, and switches off again

Hi
You can try this firmware - https://mega.nz/#F!4AIxnZQB!yzhLM-ED8HVsM2MnekVGBQ UT3S.
It has the sleep option.
Other firmware is also being worked on to add the 'sleep mode'.

Hi fellow members.
I'm new to the world of Droid Tv and currently been researching the different options available for boxes. I have looked at some of the ones available on Takealot and other online stores and checked out reviews on YouTube so kinda settled on going for a MXQ pro plus 4K . Any members that can provide feedback on this , locally I can get it for about R1600 including the airplay mouse. So I'm
Not very knowledgeable about the devices so if anyone can suggest something better , please provide suggestions. I'm also clueless to the amount of data consumption but the intention is to replace this with my Dstv so will likely be using it a few hours a day (including kids)so roughly how much data will I expect to consume?
Apologies if I'm posting this in the incorrect thread , appreciate any help I can get
Raf

Welcome. I am not familiar with the device you're considering so can't give advice in that regard.

Data consumption depends on the quality of content you will be watching. As an indication, DSTV Now and Supersport work out to just over 500MB per hour on their highest quality (960×540 at 1200kbps).

Anyone using the Switch?
http://thinksource.co.za/switch/
Seems ok but doesn't seem like it supports 4K , I don't have a 4K TV set so probably not a big loss but does it have access to supersport, Dstv now and everything else

Best to avoid.
No 4K, H265, no audio pass-through, no Kodi support, no DSTV Now and it runs a chipset that was discontinued 2 years ago.

Thanks for the quick response bud I think my best bet is to with the MXQ Pro+ then.
