The Droid TV thread

It's not the device that's important in Amazon s new stance. This is targeted at sellers who expressly imply or promote piracy via any device . So any fully loaded adverts etc. If a resellers stipulated unlimited free TV in a smartphone listing it should get same treatment as boxes

Aubreyk's argument was "Amazon will eventually also trash boxes with the ability to pirate streams". I was just pointing out that you can do the same with Android phones.

Never going to happen. Android boxes have replaced old media players. Just like a laptop or note book the majority of uses are legal but in the hands of a user all can be used to watch copyright material.

Anybody getting network connection error for DStv Now? Was working fine on my HPH media player, but now keep getting a connection error.

Yeah, no doubt not on Mc list of supported gadgets. have u side loaded the latest?

...then you have the version deemed compatible with your device no doubt. Lan setup - how is your Dns on the box vs phone? Any proxies?

Hi folks,
Still figuring out the MI Box but struggling to add extra internal memory. Tried yesterday with my flash and then again today with my Terra HD but it won't use it to download anything. I keep getting the same error message

are you this negative about everything in life?

Besides, what is wrong with people taking steps to stop piracy? Android TV (and Kodi) has many non-piracy related functions. Why not use it for what it was built for?

Because it is ultimately NOT the piracy I am pointing at, it is DSTV's snooping on this forum and the way they "conveniently" keep breaking software so that you can not use generic Android devices to stream content.

If you have a look at all my writing, it all points towards DSTV and the staff who keeps F*()@#ing up devices that should actually work, out the box. BUT, it seems you are ok having to go to old SW (apk's) to stream stuff you are the owner of. If not, WHY ARE YOU NOT MAKING YOUR VOICE THICK and point to DSTV to get their siht together, instead of telling me I am negative?...

Well, that was a positive response

I honestly think DSTV are embracing these devices. I am using the latest version of DSTV and it looks to be built for Android TV and the remote... it even correctly adds a shortcut to the leanback launcher....

those idiots have made us suffer for years. its not like we want to pirate. i have ****ing credentials to put in to validate it. i do it with supersport. why the restriction on the dstv now app only they will know. i haven't yet tried to install the android supersport app on my droid box. but i bet its broken. and the question is why?? i have the ****ing credentials, why cant i stream on my droid box?

tried the dstv now app last week. didn't work. ill give it another shot but monochoice makes some puzzling decisions. cant wait for 30 April to come because they would have release the airplay update hey. right? right?

I agree, the fact that they have added the leanback ui support means that they are busy working on supporting Android TV.
Additionally, they will be supporting Chromecast soon as well (sometime this month according to their forum).

Hi - I've got fibre and want to stop my DSTV subscription. Do you know of anybody that can help me set up the rig (mediaserver, VPN, etc.) Sandton area. Edress: [email protected] Happy to pay for consulting.

Jirre this looks dodge. User since 2015, with 6 posts, all posts a copy of the above, all posted today.

Somebody posted in another thread, that they backtraced this persons IP, and it comes up as South African Film and Publications board. Not sure how accurate, but it really wouldnt surprise me

Is it not against the law to 'click-bait' and pretend to post as someone else? I seem to recall this as part of a new Communications act or something...?
