I haven't seen one IRL, but on tv it looks real cheap (plasticky). That aerial looks like it can snap at any moment.

I have one and yes, you will snap the aerial if you just pull it out to hard or something. The metal is way to thin at the top end.

However I find it useful when waiting outside the mall or something, so I can't really complain about it.

The idea is a step in the right direction, without a doubt..

I just don't think they've got the formfactor and everything right just yet.... although knowing MC... this is all it will ever be.

Let me guess, you complained to your SO that she should shop faster and not make you wait like that, and her response was to get you this mobile TV right?

I would've left her ass at the mall to teach her a lesson...I'm not your taxi

I used the device without having to pull out the antenna. It is indeed very flimsy, but I think you will not really have to use it that often...

My word buts DSTV are really grasping at straws to make DVB-H a success. Its another device that is expected to be carried about. Get an ipod touch/iphone/android and use the monthly subs towards an ADSL connection.

If DSTV are aiming for this to be installed inside a Bus/Taxi, then its a brilliant advertising/money generating spin as 'Commercial TV' subscriptions are always alot more

spend a week with it and you will stop using it. i have the usb drifta and it is cr@p. Signal in PE is not good and the repeats is just much. if you like the news.... well 15 minutes on etv news and you are done. If you hand comes near the arial you loose the signal. no way in hell that people will pay R36 a month for it. next year i must pay.......no no no no no.

This is OT as the thread refers to the Walka, but I use my first generation USB Drifta in PE, mostly for the sport channels while at work. Perfect for my needs.

Good luck trying to find an ipod/iphone/android phone for only R650.

Please consider the market for this device cannot afford to buy a R6000 cellphone every year...

Played with a walka and the build quality doesn't seem bad. its a lot thinner than i expected. The aerial is very flimsy but depending on signal you don't always need it.

I've got a walka and I think its brilliant. My aerial seems fine, doesn't feel cheap at all. Also, I never have to pull the aerial out, its just for where there's weak signal.

It comes with some nice accessories too. Also free until march 2013. For R600 I think it was worth it.

Ipod touch is not that expensive.. besides, someone who cant afford a decent mobile phone wont buy a Walka device and still have to subscribe to watch TV. Are people really that desperate to watch TV?

Where can you see in what areas in South Africa the signal are available?
