OMG, the pure unhelpfullness and uselessness of Telkom is enough to make you want to jump out of the window. Anybody know of a less stressful way of cancelling a Telkom line and DSL without having to deal with those incompetent Call Center individuals????????? I have sat on the phone now for 90min waiting for someone to answer in the cancellations department. In my frustration I put the phone down and get through to general account enquiries, and the dear woman there tells me to relax because they have a high volume of calls, nearly 200 A DAY!!! WHAT???? surely they should be able to handle 200 calls A DAY????????? Will going into the store be any more help???????

haha tried the no-pay route before....not very successful at all!!!! but thanks, I've sent a PM to TelkomZA

I guess the quality of Telkom stores varies. I was met with only stupidity & indifference when going to the Telkom store in Fourways, Jhb (this was to claim a credit of R140 that they owed me after cancelling my Jhb service ... I still have not received it).

Now I have retired to the WC, and on applying for a landline at the Telkom shop in Worcester's Mountain Mill mall, I had absolutely superb service ..
.. only problem being that Telkom closed their shop in Swellendam, where I now live, and Worcester is the closest place to pay the new line deposit ... 125 km away!
Telkom would not even allow a EFT into their account to pay that initial deposit ... a crazy policy!

Not really They just tell you you have to call 10210 and then offer their phone to dial from.

I would try and call them early in the morning. With the recent Mweb cancellation disaster I had to interact with Telkom a number of times and I was actually surprised that they could help. I think the 25% discount on ADSL access thread is a good example, that Telkom is trying (although service seems to dependant on the agent you get).

Going to the store will probably be easier (although I think unnecessary - they should be able to sort this out over the phone).

An Update - frustrations are significantly lower!!! PM'ed TelkomZA, and it wasn't even an hour and I had a consultant call me, a lady by the name of Hilary, and WOW, amazing amazing service!!! So thank you TelkomZA for stopping that imminent hear attack :)
