and now ofc with the look of the new paving, comes the terror that is the green painted precast wall :(

so guess what is the next task? (will get back after the next 2 months of no quotes :p )

can I just tackle it with a tile roof paint after just a pressure wash, or should I really do the whole priming thing?

if so, anything someone can recommend? I like the morning frost color of the Duram Armaguard and that was the paint I was going to use, but thinking of using something like what was previously posted from Fired Earth (like an all-in-one) maybe?

SUCCESS!!!!

WE HAVE PAVING

do have some issues, but we want to let it sit for it's first rain session before we decide forward

I did want to have my pump sitting in a "cubbie" below ground level so I could leave it there and maybe close it up, but our issue really is in the removal of so much soil, we would basically come out Aus :p

the overall look we are happy with, but the guy who came to give quote and knew what was supposed to happen, got his jab and now he is apparently doing worse than without it :yikes:

I did a thing last weekend. Came out pretty good given I had very little idea what I was doing. IMG_20211028_173403.jpg
I'd like your opinion on using an adhesive to stick this grate over the hole, or do I have to drill and screw it to secure?

Need some advise plse. We have a long straight house with trusses running mainly top to bottom on the plans. The below plan snippet is 1 section that feeds out downwards from the "main" house and the trusses run left to right in that section. There are interior walls (dotted lines) that we want to remove. We were going to take the load bearing wall at the bottom and extend out, but we've decided against it so I colored it in red as it's now staying.

So, onto the issue. About midway down these 2 rooms is a beam running from left to right. But it's not a solid beam.. seems to be 2 beams connected with a piece of timber and yes you guessed it, it's resting on this wall I want to take out. Below are some pics:

Big beam as seen looking from the top to the bottom (according to above plan)

Shot of beam from other side; bottom looking up (according to above plan)

What do you think our options are? Brace it on either side and remove the thin little plank that's "joining" it? It seems to be resting on other timber anyway if you look a the 1st pic.

Excuse the crap picture, any quick way of fixing this besides digging up the paving.

The actual thread has "unravelled".

I have a similar issue. Pool cover sank into pool and hit the pool skimmer a few years ago and broke the fixture . Finally decided it needs to be fixed and called a pool guy a few weeks ago , and he said they could fix it. Sadly , his timing sucks, as he arrives after the domestic leaves. Hoping it gets solved this week as I am at home. Will provide feedback based on what they do.

Awesome, thanks - mine broke in a simliar fasion, for the second time - the first time was fortunately the "outer" screw on adaptor, this time its the inner one.

If I can't find a quick fix I might actually leave until I after I fit a salt chlorinator and paint the pool (as can be seen in the pic, it desperately needs painting)

Honestly, I would spend the money and have a chat with an Engineer on that one.

You mayfind that the beam is load bearing to some degree, and the wall is the final support for it, but as you say a decent junction could be sufficient but its not something I would take a risk with.

Do any of you guys know where I can get those new damn SANS-164 type plugs from anymore?

Builders used to have them in stock but it seems like they don't even acknowledge their existence anymore.

Yeah, dug around a bit and looks like I'm going to have to trek to a place like Voltex...

Just hugely disappointing that Builders seem to just ignore its existence.

I had seen them at my local builders a few months ago as well, and was actually sure I'd bought some (but clearly I was mistaken).

But they aren't even listed on the Builders site anymore, so clearly they either aren't stocking them, or their online system is just shyte (which actually might be more likely)

I've seen them at my local builders too, but that was a few months ago so not sure if they've since stopped.
I can't find shît anymore in my local builders since they decided to move the entire store around.

Pisses on my battery when shops do this really, things that used to make sense and be grouped near each other are now on opposite ends of the store and make no sense anymore.
I am 100% sure that floor planners do this just to piss people off and try justify their "employment"
