Bugger me, having someone work on my pool to try rectify some of the crap workmanship of the previous ****** is stupidly nerve wracking..

And its gonna be bollocks expensive, having to drain the pool AGAIN ffs.

Its actually cheaper for me to throw the water away and refill than to do that since everyone in Durban that I know of is considerably more expensive than them...

I got a quote of around R1500 for a bladder a little while ago.
Sorry man, ja the money is one thing but the throwing away of water sucks

Anyone know of a good way to remove paint from a wall? Is using a random orbital sander a good idea?

Just to clean it and probably get a end result when painting again?
Really is no need for that.. make sure any loose and flaking paint is removed properly and give it a good wipe down..

If you really really must, do some primer and then whatever final colour you are going for..

So back on my patio roof / ceiling topic.

Have to put a ceiling in bcos wife says so. (Also as mentioned by others - it seems to get hot and it is ugly without ceiling) :D

Aim is for ceiling to look something like this: https://www.spec-net.com.au/press/1117/ver_081117/Skylight-Strip-for-Insulated-Roof-Panels-Versiclad
So since I will be reinstalling the ceiling but with larger prismatic diffusers for 'skylights' - I cannot believe how much light they can magnify/diffuse.

Insulating Material:
I need to put the insulating material in between roof and ceiling void. Was going to put put think pink again but saw this ... could this do the same job? https://marleyroofing.co.za/product/marley-superior-double-sided-radiant-barrier/
So it will be Aerolite :I guess I can get away with 100mm aerolite (Sandton Region)?

Ceiling Board:
This is what I think would look cool (PVC also to deal better with external elements)

Or should it be NUTEC / or Gypsum?

Cornice
I want to put LED strip lights for mood lighting in the evening (don't know why - always liked them so go for a cornice something like this

Any further pointers? Cheers

Looked at these when I was doing my project, but ultimately bought from Cornice warehouse in Midrand. Tell Stelios Mosgi referred you, he’ll probably ask who that is and why you’re saying that. Very good gent though.

Storms are brewing in Jhb, which ultimately means I’m about to discover a whole host of new leaks especially on balconies. Anyone dealt with waterproofing leaky balconies, diagnostics and resolution?

Bought from Leroy Merlin. Wife reminded me that I was going too far to repair a ceiling for a house we may not be in 1 years time. So I ditched the PVC ceiling for Nutec (other part of Patio has asbestos ceiling panels which I was also going to replace - but that plan has been scrapped too. She has agreed that we replace the lights with more modern ones to bring it up a bit more to spec. Will replace passage light too - one that we never replaced when we moved in 6 years ago. After this, the house will only have modern looking fittings :D

Does anybody have those pebble mosaics in their shower? What are they like to stand on?

One downside is the lady at Union Tiles recommends sealing them because they're natural stone but I'm not really up for maintenance in a shower so might look at these flat ones

We considered that but decided to go with a more traditional rectangular stone look mosaic for the same reason...

Thanks, think I might do the same.

Did you find anything natural looking that doesn't need sealing, those shiney ones won't look good with what I'm planning.

Yeah, I'm just gonna wait until 4 more years, the previous guy screwed up the mosaic they use for fibre glass pools, but I'm not draining it again.
