I think I saw a post a few pages back - but can't find it.

Has anyone installed a shade port recently, potentially wanting to do a double one outside our property to make space for a permanetly outside vehicle.

Also, in Cape Town - do you require permission? Google is hit and miss - and I know the DA likes control.

Yep, you need permission for a shade port..

Damn, that sucks. For some reason our current place came with 2 municipal bins and I'm pretty sure the previous owners used the second one for garden refuse. I just needed a reliable and regular service to get rid of the stuff becase damn plants never stop growing. It was either a service like this, buying a trailer and tow bar or buying a bakkie :X3:

We have a shredder that is great for some shrubs and it is nice to put the mulch back into the garden, but the thing gets too tied up with some types of leaves and branches.

Some of the shadeport websites say you don't - and building regulations don't seem to require it - rather annoying.

In the same vein - surely then the two shade covers I put up outside would then also require permission?

Correct.. when I was looking into this, I found numerous reports, in my Google searches, from the city where property owners were fined for unauthorized shade ports.. whether held in place by cable or a structure..

Here is the evidence I would follow.

1. According to https://carports.co.za/building-reg...all under the 'Minor,as “minor building work”.
Carports fall under the ‘Minor Building Work’ category.

Means, you need to look at your city bylaws.

2. Now this is the one you want to read:

Its gonna be a ton of those triagle shade sails - very artistic.

Speaking of, and unrelated - after going through three Kalahari sails in just over a year - my Coolaroo is halfway through its second season and not a single stitch loose
 
Guys am I being unreasonable. The neighbor got electric fencing and now this is what my wall looks like:

These are deep and I don't think can be filled easily and I certainly don't want that chore.
 
New to me. Here is Cape Town the wall has to be on the side of the person putting up the wall. Anyway, depends on who it belongs to on how you approach this.

Have you talked to the neighbor yet?

Have you spoken to the neighbour about this..? If the contractor is in anyway honest, they would come out and fix it on their own dime and time..
 
take a chisel and hammer and knock the anchors back out from behind, his fence will be leaning or go off and he will come investigate and find the problem for himself, fkn naais like this.
 
Yeah with Vibracrete is easy as there’s the shiny side and rough side so easy to figure out whose wall it is.

If it’s your wall and he just put electric fencing you can technically just rip it off, so he should come to the party and fix this regardless.

Yeah I mean who completes work like this and then just ****s off expecting nothing to happen.

Maybe different story if he wasn’t home and there were dogs in the yard or something.
