So Got myself a H593-91 from Tm this weekend. Unfortunately only get 1 bar signal at the moment regardless of connecting to 3g or LTE, so DL speeds vary, upload is literally non existent. And connection alternates between on and off most the time( wont even sign in to steam).

Best DL speed was 24mb and upload usually .06 to .5mb, only once id it go up to 1mb.
RSRP = -115
RsRP = -5 to -7

Strangely enough my house mate runs stable on TM network with his E5220 with DL speeds between 5-9mb and upload from 1 to 2mb with ping under 100. ( not the best stability for racing online but the man only plays DOTA). Signal strength is either orange or green. Never realized the signal would be so inferior to the mobile modem.

LOS will be fair as there are few high trees between me and the nearest tower 1.8km away, that is with panning for 3m pole mounted on of the roof.

So antennas are a must as previously considered, looking at my current stats 2 x 0092's will be the way to go.
From what I have read these should sort things out nicely once setup properly, am I correct in saying this?

Remember that signal literally differs from room to room - even in the same room opposite corners can have different signal levels. If you're going to get antennas, then the sweet spot hunt won't be necessary. LPDA-0092 antennas are your best bet without a doubt.
 
Hi All new to this, and LTE and I have been reading as GUEST... I decided to register and be apart of this.. ;-)

I don't know if this has been covered but a noob question then... LTE is this service throttled ? in terms of downloads u know P2P etc etc...

also just want to say what I have read here, has made me purchase this and also looking at the Arial's and you guys have given such great read up's and advice awesome... thank you to all

just a quick back round in JHB, have great LTE coverage, cant go more than 2mb on ADSL cause of the exchange etc... my speeds have been crappy and latency a nightmare... this is also another reason to try LTE in my area.

LTE is not throttled, you buy your denomination of data, ie Telkom Mobile's 60+60 gb. Good idea to test your coverage first with a prepaid sim first. If you're wanting to game, judging by you mentioning latency, LTE is a good option, very low latency and high speeds.

thanks for the info, yes like to game now and then online also XBOX etc..
will also look at the Antenna options posted on this topic.

Step 1: Before committing yourself to any contract*If you want to sign on the dotted line* - Telkom Mobile can always offer to send over their technicians to your premises and run some test results to see if you capable of receiving stable connection(constant download speed and LTE strength)


If you have spare cash available you can always purchase the hardware(router) for R1999 at Marko and receive a further R120 off(vouchercloud - redeem code at cashier). Normal retail price R2600+. which is a saving of R600, that R600 can go towards Telkom Mobile GO Big 120(R1800) or alternatively if you aren't going to use so much data, make use of Afrihost Mobile Data.

Good Luck hunting these bad boys :)

Downloading speed depends on how many users are connected to the base station and what time of day you are connection. Example (6pm - 10 pm is considered peak and after 11pm I notice an increase in speed.

Thanks for the feedback Richard... I have done tests already and I'm happy to do the contract...as I do have LTE here... will get device tomorrow etc.. and will test and provide feedback...

also depends on area I suppose... impressive for normal icecream sticks

is there anything special thing I need to setup... or the norm... WIFI security SSID per device etc etc..

well anything better than 1.56mb at the moment would be great pings of 128ms and upload speeds of .46 LMAO...

This is true for 3G but not so much for LTE.
 
I've done the research and compared to European users, congestion isn't an issue like with 3G.
 
I remember your tower being problematic from the get-go. I'm not sure where the problem lies but I don't believe it's congestion. I'll try and find the thread where we discussed this with LTE users in London. Their speeds never dip and LTE is pretty standard there compared to ZA.
 
I have the b593s-601, and for the life of me, I can't get it to work with unotelly, the DNS service, I tried changing the DNS settings in windows, but no luck, and nowhere on the router to change it either, has anyone else managed to find a work around?
 
I don't know, let me know what you guys think... I'm not blown away... if it was hitting 10mb and higher would be happy... but could be area... or time of day...

Hey Wifikid

I'd say anything under about 8Mbps either indicates 3G operation or something's definitely not right. That 1.7Mbps in particular looks horrid.

A few things to confirm (apologies if stating the obvious or insulting your intelligence!) :

1) Are you sure your SIMcard is LTE enabled ?
2) Does your B593 indicate a definite LTE connection ? ... Home / Overview / Network Mode should show "4G"
3) Confirm the indicator light on the front panel is flashing BLUE (LTE) not green (3G) ?
4) Please post your received signal strength stats ? ... System / Diagnosis / Wireless Status Check should show "Valid Service" and an RSRP of at least -100dBm (more towards -90 is better)

Lastly, is your old ADSL modem completely disconnected when you do these tests ? Unless you have specific routing arrangements, having more than one active internet gateway can give confusing results.

No worries... see my replies below... I appreciate the help I can get... , in the end we here to help us and people like us LOL..

2) Does your B593 indicate a definite LTE connection ? ... Home / Overview / Network Mode should show "4G" yes it does stats so in menu... with 3 Bars..
3) Confirm the indicator light on the front panel is flashing BLUE (LTE) not green (3G) ? Its Blue as indicates LTE, and yes Green will be 3G but its (Blue)
4) Please post your received signal strength stats ? ... System / Diagnosis / Wireless Status Check should show "Valid Service" and an RSRP of at least -100dBm (more towards -90 is better)

4.4 RSSI (dBm): -78.0
4.5 RSRP (dBm): -104.0
4.6 RSRQ (dB): -6.0

Yeah seems like RSRP is 104 and above 100 what could this be... Reception ? also its cover cast right now... so could potentially play a role...


Yes ADSL is off... im connected only to LTE router ;-)
