On LTE and no issues?? If so this could be the best news for me today as I don't enjoy dealing with those Telkom okies

I had issues with the black card speeds were very limited after doing a sim swop noticed a massive improvement on speeds. The black card does work even their technician use it

Hi kianm

Please let me know if a vodacom sim works in the router?
And can NOIP be setup on the
router?
Thanks

As Richard has pointed out Vodacom is supported. As for no-ip it's not supported by default I can only see DYNDNS on the dropdown

@ kianm how is your experience sofar with the router

I must say my online gaming has improved , download speeds are way better than what I used to get on 3g (1-3mbps , 100ms+ pings). Am using the black sim with 3bars signal on built in antennaes . See my attached test results. Speeds were breaching the 20mbps mark but that was in the wee hours of the night. Will see how it performs during the day

@kianm have you considered getting an outdoor antenna? I ask because you are on the cell edge as indicated by your upload speed. Your speed test is not true LTE with high download and upload.

Yeah I would expect higher upload for sure. Just not sure which antennae to get and would appreciate some input on what options are currently available

jcheek, No it is not, Oddly enough. It is a B593s-601. I picked it up at the Telkom outlet store in Cresta, and the representative assured me it will work with any LTE sim card on any network. So It was quite the surprise logging in to find MTN preloaded and uneditable. Maybe it pulled the settings from my afrihost mtn sim? either way, case closed as far as I am concerned since all is working now.

So does the B593s-601 support LTE FDD 1800MHz (Vodacom, MTN) and 2100MHz (Cell C), as well as TDD 2300MHz (Telkom) ?

And UMTS 900MHz and 2100MHz ?

See sub-model list here
Anyone's guess which band CellC will end up using for LTE if/when they roll it out ....

OK, thanks, so it does not supports Cell C LTE 2100MHZ. Not that this is up at the moment.

Not one submodel seems to cover all the SA ISP's.

Bought this today but been puzzling trying to get it to work for the last hour. I plan on using it with my 8ta sim to connect my PC to the net.

What I've done so far:

- put 8ta sim in
- power connected and switched on
- ethernet cable connected from router to PC

Now I'm stuck. Tried following the instructions to go to http://192.168.1.1/ but I can't connect to that page so I'm stuck. Read a couple sites and they all start off with going to that page.

How do I get this thing working?

Edit: Typo. I've been trying 192.168.1.1.

Don't the instructions say 192.168.1.1 ? Mine does.

I went out and bought one today, that R1499 price is a bargain.

Note : This thing will also run off a 12 volt battery, so perfect for load-shedding times.

Do I need to take out my sim or connect to the internet first with another connection to get to http://192.168.1.1/?

It keeps saying "page cannot be displayed".

Edit: Got it working. I never installed my ethernet driver when I built my PC almost a year ago. Never thought I'd use it since no ADSL in the area. Installed the driver and managed to set it up fine.

Just want to say. This modem/router makes a huge difference to my internet experience. I used it for 14 hours straight yesterday, during peak and offpeak hours. No lag spikes and ping/latency to Europe servers was steady at about 230ms. The ping graphs were so flat at times that I thought I had disconnected. Using 8ta 10GB+10GB data with it.

Could you perhaps share your speedtests and are you using the built in antennas out external?
