I'm checking that out now. strangely enough if I use the CCTV DynDNS with same settings (Connect with LAN to the B593) it updates 100%. but the thing is I want the Modem to update the DYNDNS because I wanna use it for the alarms also, so port forwarding comes to play. it's not for the CCTV only.

if I manually enter the ip address on the Dyn DNS site. bob's yer uncle all good until the next ip change.

gonna check the log on DynDNS now.

and the Wireless Status as below (have no idea if that is good or bad..............)

I think very few folks on here are truly "ignorant", we just have more or less experience in different areas. I'm glad to try and help.

One thing I have noticed with the B593, is that it seems to have significant "base-station memory", ie it tries to connect to where it was before. Conversely, it can take a little while to "learn" all of the base-stations in a new area and figure out which one is consistently "best".
To illustrate : When I took my B593 "station prospecting", it "saw" more base-stations in 3 hours than it probably ever will again lol. For a day or so after that, it chopped and changed between stations until it settled down again.
Bottom line in your case : perhaps it's just learning its way around your signal landscape ?

and the Wireless Status as below (have no idea if that is good or bad..............)
RSSI/RSRP/RSRQ = -51/-76/-6 is about as good as it gets!

Just to add 2 features that I used that are not immediately apparent. Firstly if you plug in a plain old telkom phone into one of the the RJ11's and dial the number of the sim card, it will ring. However this will only work if you set network mode to auto as opposed to most of the LTE freaks who will set it to 4G only:p. The router will downgrade to 3G to facilitate the call. It however won't go back automatically to 4G again, you will have to manually do that which is a bit of a bummer. EDIT: It does revert back to 4G after a few minutes, thanks to jcheek for pointing that out.I also connected my Siemens A580IP and it also works very well. Could be a small business solution if you throw in one of those unlimited contracts.

The second is IP address reservation, which I use to remote in to my main computer, can be achieved by going into LAN menu and then bundle address list, just select the Mac address, assign the IP and submit. Works well. If this has been covered before I apologise in advance.

So it does! I see that it also works for outgoing calls, provided you have some voice airtime credit (geez - what's that again?) loaded. Quite a nice voice solution without all the hassle of setting up a SIP account.

Edit: I see that my B593 does revert to 4G mode after a call - it just takes a few minutes.

It is not unique to B593. Any 3G modem behaves that way. It remembers your last connection and in the first attempt it tries to connect to the same tower. I wrote about this behaviour in Cell C section when modems were stuck to the specific tower not giving any throughput. By then, we could see Cell ID, here not available. ;)

I'm not referring just to the last connected base-station, but possibly to a small set of them. Or so it seemed to me.

Thanks I guess I was a bit impatient, it would be nice if it could accept dual or tri sims.

These stations (and associated channel numbers) are transmitted to your device every time you connect to the tower as an alternative candidates for future handover. Modem is using information about these towers in the first place before escaping to complete network scan (which is time comsuming), so to that point your observation is correct.

anybody know why it shows a channel 2 numbers smaller than the one you choose? I check with my phone and it was actually on 11 and not on 9 as stated

That's weird - I don't see that behaviour on my 's-601.
When I select a channel number and click submit, there's a Wi-Fi re-start, and then the in-use channel number faithfully follows suit :

My s-601 does the same as Bundu, select channel 11 shows 9, select channel 1 shows channel 3:confused:

Was trawling the thread last night for details of various people's firmware versions on the B593s-601 specifically.

Joining the dots, it looks like some of the latest batch of cut-price imports may have come in with firmware version 'B180D20', which seems to be one version behind the 'latest known' 'B270D00'.

Joining some more dots, it seems like the 'B180D20' version has :
- A problem with VoIP (using SIP)
- A possible Wi-Fi channel-setting anomaly (Bundu has this issue - see here and here)

RichardG, SHANRSA and Derrick_SA, it would be useful if you could confirm which versions you're on ?

liquidskies seems to have done the most research in updating firmware on the B593s-601 - see here.
Edit1: I've PM'd liquidskies and asked him/her to share the firmware file or source.

Edit2: Added version details for SHANRSA. Wi-Fi channel selection is OK on his unit (B270D00).

Edit3: Added version details for a whole bunch of other folks. Thanks for the feedback, guys!

yip, I had a feeling that it has something to do with the FW :cry:

Is it dangerous to update the FW (if it can be located)?

What FW have the Telkom supplied B593s-601 have? Maybe Telkom has updated FW.........
 
I see that mine is back to channel 11 showing 11 so it seems fine, I suspect it was after I disabled my WDS for a router I was trying to connect to.

yes, mine shows "Wi-Fi module is restarting" as well - My WDS is not enabled - I've emailed Huawei SA and asked for FW...... not holding my breath.....
 
"Wi-fi module restarting" as well,but I have been changing my channel now and it syncs perfectly.
