four-speed self-shifting transmission
Class leading!!
Here's how much the facelifted Hyundai i20 costs in SA
Hyundai Automotive South Africa has launched the facelifted i20 hatchback range, complete with a new “Active” derivative.
As before, the facelifted line-up comprises six variants (and the choice of six colours), but the local arm of the Korean automaker has opted to remove the outgoing range’s Sport model in favour of the cross-hatchback Active derivative. Pricing starts at R229 900 and runs through to R284 900.
The powertrains (both naturally aspirated) carry over unchanged, which means there’s again the choice of a 1,2-litre four-cylinder petrol mill worth 61 kW and 115 N.m, and a 1,4-litre petrol four-pot with 74 kW and 133 N.m.
The transmissions are unchanged too, with the 1,2-litre models featuring a five-speed manual gearbox and the 1,4-litre versions a six-speeder. The pair of automatic models in the range both employ a four-speed self-shifting transmission (that means the new dual-clutch cog-swapper will not be offered locally).
Highlights inside include the addition of an infotainment system for the base Motion variants (and the rest of the range), and a centre arm-rest and rear parking sensors for the lone 1,2 Fluid model.
The 1,4 version of Fluid variants, meanwhile, gain yet more added kit in the form of automatic headlamps, LED daytime running lights and leather trim for the steering wheel and gear-knob. The new Active furthermore features static-bending headlamps as standard, in addition to its crossover-inspired styling.
As before, the 1,2-litre derivatives feature a two-year/30 000 km service plan, while the 1,4-litre models boast a three-year/60 000 km plan. All models, however, come with Hyundai’s five-year/150 000 km warranty as standard, along an additional two-year/50 000 km powertrain warranty.
Pricing:
Hyundai i20 1,2 Motion: R229 900
Hyundai i20 1,2 Fluid: R241 900
Hyundai i20 1,4 Motion AT: R254 900
Hyundai i20 1,4 Fluid: R266 900
Hyundai i20 1,4 Active: R279 900
Hyundai i20 1,4 Fluid AT: R284 900

A NA 1.4 for almost R300k, that must be the most expensive of the kind in the country.
Polo TSI 85kW Highline DSG®
Recommended Retail Price R302,200
But at-least the polo has newish engine and DSG gearbox.
The Polo is turbo charged, I was referring to normally aspirated cars. Doubt any other 1.4 NA car in this country costs that much. Although it's possible, I'm not aware of any other.
1.4 TEC SR AT
R304,995.00
Pretty much the same car as the I20, but they offer the EU infotainment screen.
Indeed crazy Kia really pricing.I assume that's a Kia? That's just retarded.
Indeed crazy Kia really pricing.
Next they'll probably charge R900k for one of their sedans.
KIA has announced the official pricing for the KIA Stinger GT, heading to South Africa later this year.
In a statement released on Thursday (3 May), KIA said that the car will ship standard with KIA’s industry-leading unlimited kilometre, 5-year warranty, as well as five years’ worth of roadside assistance and a 5-year/90,000km maintenance plan for R859,995.
