The iOS 15 Thread/Discussion

iOS 15 adoption still trails iOS 14 two weeks after release

This year's version of iOS stumbled out of the gates as early adopters discovered a few major bugs. Perhaps that's the reason so many users are hesitant to update their iPhones to iOS 15. Two weeks after the release the adoption is way behind what iOS 14 managed at the same point last year.

Mixpanel's previous analysis showed data for the first two days only - 8.59% of the users installed the new OS. Now, the firm cites 22.22% adoption rate by October 5 2021. In comparison, iOS 14 was already installed on 14.68% of the devices in the first two days and 41.97% after two weeks.

Keep in mind, though, that Mixpanel gathered the data using its mobile SDK analytics and counts the website and app visits by users with iOS 15. So their stats might be slightly skewed. Yet, last year's statistics were gathered the same way and were pretty close to the actual numbers.

It's also the first time Apple has provided an active choice to stay on a previous version and then not bug you to upgrade to the latest.

Apple releasing iOS 15.0.2 with fixes for AirTag, MagSafe, and more

Apple is continuing to refine and improve iOS 15 following its release to the public last month. Apple today is rolling out iOS 15.0.2 to iPhone users everywhere with continued performance improvements and bug fixes. Head below for the full release notes.

The build number of today’s release of iOS 15.0.2 is 19A404. Here are the release notes:
  • Photos saved to your library from Messages could be deleted after removing the associated thread or message
  • iPhone Leather Wallet with MagSafe may not connect to Find My
  • AirTag might not appear in the Find My Items tab
  • CarPlay may fail to open audio apps or disconnect during playback
  • Device restore or update may fail when using Finder or iTunes for iPhone 13 models
There have been other bugs reported in iOS 15, including issues with touch screen responsiveness and more. At this point, it’s unclear whether today’s release of iOS 15.0.2 resolves this issue. It’s also unclear if today’s update fixes a bug related to the iPhone 13 Pro’s ProMotion display and third-party apps.

An annoyance I’m experiencing on iOS15 is that sometimes (haven’t paid attention to what could possibly cause it) the search/address/tab bar (whatever you want to call it ) will change to black text on a black background.

I know about the “website tinting” feature and have already disabled it under Safari settings, but I still get the black on black effect.

Has anyone else experienced this and perhaps discovered a way to disable/prevent this?

Youtube is broken on 15.

Have to constantly click on a video before it plays.

Does this also fix the storage bug?

I haven't had this personally but I know of some people that this has happened to.

There are definitely some teething issues in 15, needed a bit more time in the oven me thinks.

I’ve had widgets go blank and just now unresponsive touch when someone called me

Yes - it seems to happen to me in the morning when night shift switches from dark to light. I have to force quit safari and relaunch it.

Thought that was a side effect from adblocker.
Probably 50% of the time I need I refresh the page for the video to play immediately.
much worse when I try “Request Desktop Website” though.
