Warren Buffett, 88, likes the technology giant because of its devoted customers, and has built up his stake in the company by “just a little” since his last regulatory filing, he said Thursday in an interview with CNBC.

I drank the Apple Kool-Aid for a long time. Then I moved to Android, and don't see what the fuss is all about. The iPhone is extremely overpriced compared to the value I can get from cheaper handsets. But, I suspect the Apple phone is more about status than functionality or usability.

While it certainly can be about status for some (just like flagship Android phones or fancy cars) for a great many it's purely about function and usability that Android fails or over complicates for no good reason at all.

As I said previous the value of cheaper handsets is not a 1:1 comparison.

If your Polo gets you from A-B and that's all you need then that fine. But you can't now go and say a Porsche is overprice because it does A-B exactly the same as your Polo does, because there are so many more factors involved than strictly A-B.

A-B might be the most relevant to you personally, but it's necessarily the primary concern for others or the only thing they are worried about.

I used an iPhone for 8 years. Been using a cheaper Android for a year now (chose to rather get carbon wheels and a power meter for my bike (yes, that's how expensive it is)). And, I have not missed the Apple once. Feature for feature, there is no real difference. The only difference is the speed at which my apps launch from a hardware perspective. Am I saying that is what all other customers believe, or have experienced? Not at all.

Plus, I don't have to pay exorbitant insurance costs on my phone, because it's super cheap to replace. Win win.

Edit: I am actually quite confident that Apple's market share in SA is going to drop a bit in the next year. The high cost, with increasing RoE is putting it out of the reach of many.

So, this really happened. I am working through some online training literally as I post this. The training discusses digital disruption, and one of the modules I just went through has a blurb on the outcome of some market research showing Millennials respond better to products when they invoke feelings of exclusivity and prestige. Millenials also rely heavily on peer reviews of products before making any purchasing decisions.

I approach my technology purchases with zero feeling. It's not really fair to try and make like buying an Apple is really the best choice if you base any sort of your purchasing decisions on feelings. Nothing wrong if you do. Just own up to it.

Integration into your Apple TV and Watch? I use a smart watch and TV too, and never have any issues with integration. Most IoT devices already seamlessly integrate with my phone with no issues through an API, which is exactly what Apple does.

Like he said the iPhone is comparable to flagship Android devices than cheapos. It is a good looking phone and their app store is better too. I'd love an iPhone but the economics just don't make sense. I had one and when I lost it decided to go android. More choice there at the low end.

I simply don't like Android's ergonomy, I've tried and just can't get the hang of it. iPhones are easier to configure and use (for me at least).

I'm not an Apple fanboy, I alternate PC and Mac for example (my new laptop is a PC, older one a Mac, had 2 PC before that, one Mac again before) and simply buy what I consider the most suited to my needs at x point in time.
