Unless you going to use podcasts, nah - not worth it if you have jailbroken - the only useful thing in the upgrade is the spell check you can switch off but if you have jailbroken, thats probably the first thing you loaded.
I am having issues with the new FW, - my apps store apps won't update - have to uninstall and re-install them which is an issue if you have data loaded for the app - like stanza - if you uninstall, all you books are gone.

2.2 is very much worth it even if you're not going to use any of the new features. It fixes bugs ( mail fetch most notably), it has a signifiant performance boost, and it is far more stable.

Definitely agree with Vlad on performance boost... Apps such as SMS and Mail open up a lot quicker

Edit: Pretty cool, sw 2.2 has an status bar when updating

did you buy your iPhone somewhere outside of SA?? if you bought here you don't have to build custom IPSW, use the standard upgrade, it actually fixes some 3G call drop issues etc with the baseband upgrade, and our phones are hardware unlocked, so u don't need to worry about getting a soft network unlock

anyone here use PDANet on iPhone? have an issue i'd like to troubleshoot with someone who has fw 2.2 including baseband upgrade

I thought if anyone wanted a possible software unlock in the near future we were NOT allowed to update the baseband. My phone is from Vodacom.

If u got your phone from Vodacom it's hardware unlocked, this means you don't need a soft unlock, 3g signal reception seems better, and I haven't dropped a call since updating, so I'd reccommend restoring with the apple firmware as is including the baseband upgrade, then jailbreaking

I really hope Garmin brings out proper navigation software for our iPhones. Google maps might be great for the States, but it's not very good in SA.

word is that TomTom will bring out turn by turn, however, Apple are preventing them from publishing on AppStore

let's hope they go the Cydia route soon....

Has any body else got a problem with the phone not waking up out of sleep mode(black screen) when a call comes through. Roughly 1 in 20 incoming calls my phone rings but the screen does not wake up so i can slide answer the call. Pressing the home button does nothing.

Iphone 3G (2.1 - standard not jailbroken)

Since the upgade it's doing the above, not responding and the result is a lost call.

Updated the SO's 2G last night to 2.2. Everything went well. I just wish Apple would find some way to restore your icons to the same location again.

Im leaving on holidays tomorrow, was wondering which sweet apps to get before I leave? I have pianist and guitarist which are pretty fun. I also have sketches, but anyone know about any cool apps that could keep me busy if im really bored during the holidays?
