hmmm... here's a hint, insure the phone....

....women................

why they get cheaper car insurance no one knows

I didn't even get a chance to phone my insurance brokers as I only picked the phone up at 5pm and the brokers were closed was going to phone them the following morning... but I have given them fore warning that I am getting another this week :) and they have added it to my policy already!

HOw much bandwidth does gmail use?

Quick question, how much bandwidth does gmail use, on average? Say I check my mail once a day, and its never more than 2 to 3 headers a day?

I want to set the phone to check automatically, but seeing as freakin mtn active is down and they take forever to send out statements, I cannot really see that amount of bandwidth I have used.

Anybody pulling large numbers of emails a day have some stats for me?

Gothan,

I have my iPhone 3G on push for all my home e-mail. It checks for e-mail every 15 minutes. To be honest I can't even see the difference on my data usage...it's really very little. I don't think that I have ever used my allocation per month and I use my phone extensively to surf the web, send e-mail etc.

Cool thanks, how long does your battery last before a recharge? Seeing that 3g is on

All I know that there are developing an app. Don't think its complete yet.

But to be honest, you better off buying an Garmin or something. Navigation on a cellular isn't really convenient. And after using MotionX on my iPhone its quite visible that the GPS receiver in the device is useless..

I think it's more down to the detail of the Google maps for SA? or not?

Ok, don't think I've mentioned this before but: [JAILBREAK REQUIRED]

SBSettings - If you haven't got it, get it. End of story (the version on that link is an old one. More features in the new one)

Screenshot 1

Screenshot 2 (When pressing the "Power" button from Screenshot 1)

Simply swipe the status bar down, and a menu pops down with all different toggles (you can customise which ones)

Autocorrection toggle was released for it today (finally!!)

UAFaker toggle - Good for browsing myBB as it sets UserAgent to a PC. You can then view myADSL as normal and not the limited mobile site!

KeepAwake toggle - Keeps Wi-Fi active even after your phone locks - good for IM apps such as beejive etc.

Autolock toggle - Good for when DLing stuff in Cydia, SSHing wirelessly etc. Stops the phone from autolocking. Just turn it on again to set auto lock to how it was :)

Processes toggle
- Can end non-responsive processes or processes running in the background to free up memory.

There are also a lot of nice themes available in Cydia like the one in my screenshot.

What's the big deal about this, its been available since the 2.2 upgrade??

I was referring to the actual toggle for SBSettings, not the actual ability to disable auto correction. We've been able to do that for ages.

I use auto correction quite a bit, but there's times when i wanna quickly turn it off, that's when i use the SBSettings toggle.

Ah OK - I never use autocorrect anyway so its no biggy for me.

Will it be possible to replace contacts on your iphone with contacts in outlook?

If so, how?

oops, i thought the current contacts on my iphone would be replaced by the empty contact list in outlook :)

Never knew about the "merge" option

set it up to check every 30 minutes, takes practically no bandwidth when there's no new mail, almost just as little when there is something to download...

checking email every 15 minutes isn't push.... push is instant, only on exchange activesync or mobileme

About 2 days. But beware of forgetting your GPS on...eish!!!

Are you sure you get 2 days of batt life?
I only get 1 day (with browsing on edge! That too for approximately 1&half hr a day! + calls (average about half an hr)
Is here some thing wrong with my batery? If so how do I sort it out?
