I had UMTS switched off, only use GSM (That's EDGE and 3G off!) and still my battery was drained in 1.5 hours!

well, mine's been lasting since around 1pm, and is still above half

battery life seems good on beta 3, phone was full at around 1pm, and was at about 20% by 11pm last night, had about 3 rather long phone calls and an hour's worth of gaming on that

unplugged it from charge at around 6 am this morning, only sent a couple of texts and browsed the net quite a bit, 9am now, still shows full battery

i also have bluetooth on permanently

I've jailbreaked my iphone 3g. When i start up Cydia i'm requested to do an upgrade. But i get a cached failure and host unreachable error each time. how do i rectify this and is this upgrade necessary?

Just try again, i get that sometimes.. It's possible the servers could be down also.

Try rebooting the phone also, i highly doubt it's a problem with your jailbreak!

use safari before you try cydia, make sure you can browse the internet

if you can't, check your data network settings:
settings->general->network->cellular data network

should be:
iphone.vodacom.za
username <blank>
password <blank>

if that doesn't work, just change it to
internet
username <blank>
password <blank>

i've seen cydia quite often doesn't work on wifi... switch wifi off and try via 3G

So just outta intrest, who is ganna get the new iPhone when its released in june ? There are already rumors and sources that apple has ordered the parts for the phone. Im sure you knw about it but go look a macrumors(dot)com

Slide to unlock (haha) you do know how to do that dont you? Just kidin dude.

Go to Settings > Mail, contacts, calendars > Scroll down and hit "Import SIM Contacts

I've saved up for the 2009 iPhone. I have a relative that works for Vodafone in an European country and they get the phone pretty much soon after release date
