I actually used cycoder this weekend at cokefest, got some nice videos of Snow Patrol and oasis.

i thought you had to choose between MMS or tethering?

I only use iBlacklist for SMS privacy, everytime I get home my roomies can't stop playing wurdle on my phone and I don't like people reading my SMS's before I do (Because it displays on the screen)

iBlacklist enables me to switch off the function which is nice.

well, not a solid either/or situation

when i need to tether, i just upload the tether ipcc file, and when i'm done, i upload the mms file again... the phone is attached to my laptop anyways so the battery doesn't run down, so not like it's that much effort to do

True, but with Swirly & Pdanet you don't have to do anything, except pay ofcoarse :(

But to be honest I don't really care about tethering, got ADSL at work and at home.

Roland, have you used Swirly before? If so, how does the MMS function provided with OP 3.0 compare to Swirly?

swirly was the first jailbroken app i ever installed, and kept it right up untill i went 3.0

having said that, the iphone mms is WAY better

it integrates completely into the regular messaging app (they've changed the sms app to messaging app) the same wan an sms would, so, in the same conversation where you see sms', you now also see the mms, with thumbnails of the attachments etc, tapping on the message, then opens the attachment, in swirly you have seperate "pages" for different message sections of the same mms, in the messaging app, each page just shows as it's own message, so, there will be a bubble with the subject and text, and below that a bubble with the photo or the vcard (contact) or voice memo or whatever

here's a screenshot from my phone

Sounds nice, is it possible to cut some of the images from the messaging app and store them with photo's?

That is awesome, maybe I should start considering to change :)

probably still no way to bluetooth music from one device to another?

I know you said its impossible with iBluetooth...

Any major changes to expect from the actual release of OP 3.0?

Or would it be the same as BETA 3 version?

bluetooth music to another device, yes and no

you cannot send the actual file, but you can stream the music via bluetooth already, works in my car via stereo bluetooth for example, they will never let you send the files, they don't believe in sharing music for free which they can sell to you....

as for similarity

very similar to the beta, beta 3 is getting real close, extremely stable, quick etc. On the release version though, you'll probably be able to configure tether and mms on the phone rather than via the ipcc, which will enable both to work at the same time, they're disabling that for now, as they don't want developers running around with these features before at&t allows them...

other than that, the release version will have meebo built in, basically an instant messaging app with push notifications for msn, yahoo messenger, googletalk, facebook chat... all the major IM apps out there really

there's speculation it will have a video recording app as well

and peer to peer connectivity will work via bluetooth

come on, go 3.0 and let me know if the iUtilities thing works on beta 3... i'm supposed to be upgrading a guys phone a bit later, and i want just that little bit of confidence that it's going to work

if it doesn't, you can just downgrade back to 2.2.1 using dfu mode, or, pay 10 us$ to have your udid listed as a developers device, have a guys details for you that will do this

Done ;)

Added a link as im near reaching the character limit :( lol

Fxit... why not post the original post in a new post, call it 'this is the original post of this thread' then just add a link to the post..

that should save a few more characters :D

I'm sure it will work... I've been so busy this week haven't time to try the new beta 3...

If I find time this weekend i'll give it a shot with the iUtilities method.. It's gotta work, as long as that string is changed, iTunes reckons it's a 2.x.x firmware and WILL activate it...

Don't think anyone will take the plunge with their iPhones.. Will maybe give it a shot tomorrow Roland..
