Hi everybody, I have picked up something strange. Some of my free apps stopped working. Something like Facebook will start loading and then I'll be thrown back to the normal Iphone home page.

Has anyone seen or experienced this?

Thanks!!

Most likely you are out of memory, reboot your phone and try again (press and hold the power button)

+1

This is why jailbreaking and having SBSettings is so important :D. Having the Processes toggle allows you to quickly quit those apps in the background so you can free up memory.

Apps such as Safari and Mail always remain in the background once opened. If I don't close them both, Facebook and Cydia always crash. Facebook needs quite a bit of memory, especially when viewing photos.

A quick respring always works for me.

i went to that hackint0ish link but the source doesn't work in installer, gives an error on it. tried this other way through my terminal and didn't work either, going to try find the bbinfo app and ssh to my phone.

Don't follow the downgrading instructions. Just use that guide to check your bootloader version. Then once done, you can use the Fuzzy application to downgrade.

Good luck. I really don't think you are on 5.9....

SBSettings toggles now working on 3.0

muahahahahahahaha

ok, so, i'm considering jailbreaking again...

mms and tether are natively supported in 3.0, so haven't had the need to jailbreak since i went with the beta, but, I do so miss being able to switch wifi on and off with a swipe and a tap, rather than going the whole settings route....

BigBoss announced he'll soon be releasing SBSettings 3.0, works with OS 3.0, and backwards compatible with OS 2.x, major performance improvements etc...

now i just want a tethering toggle switch in SBSettings.... muahaha

I like the fact that the date is also in the status bar.

For those of you who haven't yet read the update:
SBSettings 3.0 is working well. I plan to release it soon since most the new features are also working on 2.0. I am not yet done but here is the current changelog:

DYLIB: Modified for all the changes required to work on 3.0 (with proper patched jailbreak, not working with public jailbreak on 3.0).
DYLIB: Added status bar date. This will put the date in your statusbar right by your clock. This defaults off and you must enable it in the more app. See screenshot of statusbar with this enabled.
DYLIB: Massively reworked SSH and EDGE toggles. Solved the low memory freeze ups previously seen when hitting refresh or trying to toggle EDGE or SSH. This was a major issue on current versions of SBSettings. It seems totally solved.
DYLIB: Massively reworked WiFi toggle since it didn’t work on 3.0. It toggles very quickly now.
DYLIB: Massively reworked phone toggle (airplane) since it didnt work on 3.0. Phone toggle is also instant.
DYLIB: Added a single tap status bar to close the SBSettings window in 3.0 only. This is because home button brings up the search and there was some interference (enough that I felt annoyed). So you can swipe to open the window, tap to close.
Both: Added ability to move toggle order around.
More app: Added mobile substrate extensions manager. You can now troubleshoot a poorly performing device by disabling and enabling various installed mobile substrate extensions. (Requires respring after toggling).
More app: Added numeric wifi, numeric GMS (phone) to extras menu. (Note: the 3.0 version of numeric battery looks different. Remember this is just enabled by SBSettings. It’s a feature of springboard).
More app: Added statusbar date toggle button in extras menu to enable or disable statusbar date.
Revved version to 3.0 since this version works with iPhone OS 3.0. It should work with 2.0-3.0.
Reworked how root requiring toggles work. As such, we can now system out to processes as root. This enables Safari download and other toggles! (Expect them soon).

No one can ever tell me, "Now that OS3 is out, I don't need to jailbreak". :)

I got a feeling we all gonna get shut down and it won't get released at the WWDC....

well, there's not been a new beta in over 2 weeks now, i'm thinking they're getting very close to final.... my money is on an early june release (possibly even before the new phones)

I doubt it will be released before the new iPhone - You know Apple's strategy -'the new iPhone to be released today - but you with the old iPhone , don't worry we are releasing the new software at the same time'

I thought 2.0 and the app store launched before the iphone 3G?

I installed sbsettings and it said I have 47 mb of memory free. Does that sound about right? I've installed proceses and it says "phone" is running, but I delete it and the memory is the same.

Yeah phone sometimes shaves at most 7mb off of mine. But mine averages the same as yours mostly.

Used to be 50 something at times, but its steady at +-47

Multichoice app on App Store

DSTV has released their own program guide app on the App store, free download. Much better than any of the others I've tried (tvGuide and XMLGuide) and you can choose which channels you want to view the program guide for. It rocks! :D
