annoying....

iphone on os3.0 supports tethering via bluetooth
ipod touch 2nd gen now has built in bluetooth
ipod touch 2nd gen with OS3.0 does not support bluetooth PAN, meaning, it cannot connect to the iphone and use the phone's internet connection, it sucks :(

ok, in all fairness though, no one has posted success or failure on this?

you can jailbreak with redsn0w 0.7.2, however, i would suggest the following:

install icy only, NOT CYDIA
then use icy to install cydia after the jailbreak

i haven't tested this, but it's what i would do if i had to, i feel a LOT more comfortable with 0.7.1, i restored after using 0.7.2 because of the related issues

Which issues if i may ask Roland?
I initiallly upgraded to OS3, with Redsn0w 0.7.1, (and resored aptBackup) with LOADS of problems. Then i used 0.7.2, did a full restore, (did not restore aptBackup) and everything is going good now. Phone's speaker was dead earlier (couldnt hear anything in a phonecall), but after a reboot it was fixed. Any issues i should watch out for?

not sure i understand what you're saying?
if you applied the ipcc, mms should be able to send if you turn 3G off

confirmed - seems to work every time now as long as 3G is off

will try your exercise as soon as I have a free minute (hour) :D

cydia couldn't apply essential upgrades, kept getting errors, think you mentioned you only installed icy, not cydia?

No... must have been someone else. (or IF it was me, my head was somewhere else when i typed... that happens!)
When i did the jailbreak with 0.7.1 i couldn't do some cydia updates (specifically libxml2, and xslt or something like that)
But i think that was all related to aptBackup, and POSSIBLY upgrading instead of restoring. Like a windows machine needs a format every now and then to achieve optimal performance, iPhone needs a restore!

a version of aptbackup that was released just after 3.0 software had a known issue where it replaced one of cydia's repositories with an incorrect link, causing install issues, so, that's where it came from, i've been afraid to use aptbackup ever since

it's unfortunate, but, with the issues we're seeing with the iphone mms client, i'm going to have to get swirly when 2.1 releases :( this will result in loosing the ability to send business cards though... sucks :(

anyone considered going back to bitesms? i thought i'd try, because they claim they support mms functionality, which they do, but, through the phone's own mms handler, which isn't working for me....

Apple are really starting to disappoint now

the annoying thing is, in OS 3.0 Beta 4, tether and mms worked like a dream, full functionality, received from anywhere, data connections were stable, no 2G/3G switch issues...

i don't understand how they went backwards, but i think it has to do with how they tried to prevent users from activating these features so the operator has to activate it for you

Not too keen on handing out number to test - will ask around here at work for people on those networks to test and report back.

rather don't, i suspect that undelivered cellc/mtn mms' is what causes the call drops... (not verified yet, but will be soon.... i hope....)
