Hi all.

I upgraded to 2.1, but now I can't get edge to work. Getting no ip address through BossPrefs. On MTN network. I tried adding "internet" to APN on Cellular Data Network, but still nothing. Searched web and can't find a solution. Any suggestions???

Did you reboot the phone after setting the APN?

hmm..try resetting all settings in settings

Just did a reboot and ip came up. Thx. But wierdest thing happened before reboot. Suddenly ip appeared, then about 5 min later it was gone again. It's up for now though, thks.

Just made the rather huge leap from 1.1.3 to 2.1.**

Backed up to iTunes 8; followed iClarified's guide; restored backup; all a-OK.

Had no complaints with 1.1.3 but wanted to check out the appstore, still cant though because my Apple ID confirmation email is yet to arrive (weird that it would take more than a minute or two-maybe finger trouble on my part).

Apart from that piece of 'admin annoyance' (why do I even need an ID, I cant shop in the store so whats the big idea??) - no hassles whatsoever.

My Edge and email etc. settings are all restored from backup and working flawlessly.

**1st gen iPhone on the Cell C network.

Posting this while on iPhoneModem connection. Eventually a nice modem app for use of iPhone as modem. Use this link www.iphonemodem.de. No need to install app on iphone. Uses ssh connection.

As far as I know, iTunes 8 gives an error when in DFU mode. (Well that's what happened to me, and I read it on Hackint0sh) So in order to restore a Custom Firmware you do the normally. (Alt+Restore)

No problems for me in DFU mode, I used iTunes8 and did a clean restore with the normal 2.1 firmware then ran quickpwn after that to activate my iPhone.

Swirlymms beta avaliable. Check out iPhonefreakz.com for info

They have released the official one now. Get it from the iSpazio or Ste repo....

"SwirlyMMS it’s the only application that allows you to send and receive real MMS and it doesn’t use some internet service over WiFi"

Now I need to test it, will let you know how it works..

Virgin & Vodacom:

Vodacom
MMSC: mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
Proxy: 196.006.128.013:8080
APN: mms.vodacom.net

Virgin
MMSC: mms.virginmobile.co.za
Proxy: 196.31.116.242:8080
APN: vmms

Would be helpful if you guys could find MTN and CellC so other guys don't have to search back...

Demo license only lasts 14 days :(

$8 for full license...

@limnos - you on 2.1 right? Just want to check if it works fine on 2.1 before I get a license for Swirly. I'm still on 2.01, waiting for Winpwn!

Dude i've tried sending to an iPhone and it doesn't work... :(

Will try again later... Can anyone else confirm that it works on 2.1? or even works on any v2+?

I'm on 2.0.1 and sent between iPhone (Cell C) and Blackberry (MTN), and it works both ways, send and receive.

@slinkymike - in what country's app store?

SA... I actually created a new email address and tried again... nothing, then this morning emails arrived in BOTH accounts but one of them still would not work, I've actually found the whole thing rather Microsoftesque :(

That said I'm up and running - probably the last iP user on the planet to try out the remote app ;)

Havdn't been in the SA store, but good to know. You should keep us posted pls.

ARGH! Frustration.

Used SwirlyMMS back in the 1.1.3 days, now that it has been updated to work on 2.1 I actually bought it.

And no it doesn't work so far. Not with 9201 or 8080 proxy setting or anything.
Somebody please help.

Not having mms as a basic function really sucks on the iPhone. The iPhone isn't near perfect, but I wouldn't swap it for any other phone. Except maybe a 16Gb 3G iphone.:D
