Hey guys Bitesms and Swirlymms have new updates on Cydia as of this morning.

BiteSMS released v 2.4 yesterday noon - best update by far...

SwirlyMMS's latest update is still v1.2.6 - next update should be released within next week (according to Mats, and hopefully the MTN issue is sorted - otherwise I want a refund :D )

This may sound stupid but is it possible to load the 3rd party apps onto an iphone, it keeps asking for my account information, am I supposed to register or something?

Are you talking about the App Store? If you are then yes you do need an account. You can get one in iTunes clicking on ' iTunes Store'.....

Just read up on biteSMS - how is this app - I see SMS's are sent via internet connection.

EDIT: and its more than an VC SMS bundle

Did you buy it prepaid or are you on a Vodacom contract?

iphone.vodacom.za is supposed to only work if you've activated your iphone with a vodacom simcard on itunes, once you've done this, it takes 24 hours before iphone.vodacom.za works as your apn, i'm suspecting this one's a bit faster though, as it's an exclusive apn for vodacom supplied iphones only, i'm also thinking it probably caches the most commonly browsed content locally, which could have further performance improvements

Regards

Roland

I would not get my hopes up on that one. Utlimately all your traffic will break out at the same point.

My money is on it being for the push services that Apple is working on.

My phone was activated on Sunday with iTunes and the APN is not working - still using 'internet'

Hi! I have 3G 8gb iPhone from u.s. I want to jailbreak it. How can you help?
Reply by email, will be better: [email protected]

Phones from the US are network locked, and the iPhone 3G jailbreak does not remove the network lock yet, have you been able to connect to any of the south african networks as yet?

that's wierd, I activated mine at around 11 am last tuesday, and when i woke up on wednessday it was working, vodacom iPhone support also explained to me that the activation process is used to trigger registration on the iphone apn

still not sure what the difference between the two apn's is though

There's no ways you can brick your phone..

well, you can brick the phone if you interrupt at the wrong time, or install from a corrupt firmware package, I'd suggest jailbreaking from a laptop so in case eskom decides to take a coffee break nothing goes wrong

however, the likelyhood of bricking the phone is no higher than the chance of bricking the phone when you do a normal firmware upgrade with apple

best guide i've found so far is:
http://www.iphone-hacks.com/2008/09/25/how-to-jailbreak-iphone-3g-21-with-quickpwn-21-for-windows/

Which is an almost identical copy of iClarified's one

They've stolen the pics and everything and changed a few words here and there!!

lol, didn't even look at your link before, but ok, i believe you, the article on your link was created the 19'th, the one on mine the 25'th...

quick question, exchange active sync, does that work via the 3g connection, or only when you're on the wifi network on which the exchange server sits? can't get my phone to download my office email via 3G, only over wifi when i'm at the office
