That is very cool! So if you put in a MTN or whatever sim, it will work?

I wonder how the sales will go at those prices?

There are some on the forum who claim to be using MTN sims with official phones.
 
not possible

Just down/upgraded my at&t unit to stock standard itunes 2.1 upgrade. I get message sim is not valid etc. This is with a piggy back sim.

conclusion

if you using a piggy back you must jailbreak. So the rumour is dispelled. Even though VC have launched, if the phone is locked to any other provider it is locked, full stop.

The US phones are owned by AT&T so only they can unlock it :(
 
cant recieve incoming calls when on 3g

Hi folk

anyone had this isssue. when 3g is on you cant recieve incoming calls! this is erratic, try about 15 times to call your number from another phone. Please let me know as I am not sure if this is an iphone issue or a unlocked/jailbreak issue.

Not yet but Vodacom is working on it.(i.e if there are enough iPhone users to make it worth while)

Are you on vodacom? Which firmware?

Did you try going to settings, general, network, cellular data network and setting the APN as "internet" ?

You say your Wi-Fi isnt working either.. Try reset all settings in the settings menu at the bottom..

Ya on Vodacom just bought it.

Those things didn't help...:(

I'm using Telkom Mega 105WR router.

I think he was referring to his phone data..

Make a backup in iTunes of your iPhone and restore to the backup after you restore to 2.1 fw.. alternatively upgrade to 2.1 which will keep all your data and then quickpwn it if you want Cydia/Installer, SSH, Custom themes and all that..
