iPhone 2.2.1 firmware released - breaks yell0wSnow soft unlock - not an issue for locally purchased iPhones - also does not affect jailbreaking although all your jailbroken apps will be deleted and you have to use QuickPwn again.

Apple claim stability issues for Safari and issue with photos being saved to camera roll from e-mail - this is cr@p if you ask me - I have never had any issues with Safari or the saving of photos to camera roll from e-mail.... they just want to kill Yell0wSnow.

Will definately give this update a miss until new features are added with a firmware update.

I see another copy and paste app has been released, called hClipper. So far I prefer this too Clippy, especially as it is integrated into the keyboard

But clippy is also integrated into the keyboard

If tou press the num keys, it appears on the top of the keyboard. How does hClipboard do it?

I know I tried Clippy, the only problem I have with clippy is that once you select something it stays in that buffer, even if you switch the phone off, when you press 123 again, its still there.

With hClipper you get an icon on the keyboard, a little globe, it can also store more than one piece of data that you have copied, you can delete from the cache what you don't want, and you can copy huge blocks aswell as only that which you want

Nope don't think so, if it does not offer anything more substantial than a stable safari browser (with which I have never had a problem), I'll give this one a skip.

I have apt backup installed, but just the hassle of downloading all the cydia apps, and then re-activating a lot of them for such a menial update, does not make sense to someone as lazy as me.

But on the plus side for myself, I am currently playing around a bit with the carrier.plist and info.plist files and seeing if I can't create a "carrier" config file for mtn, so one could just copy that across and have all your mtn settings as well as changing your carrier logo to whatever you want, but as mentioned before I am lazy so it will take awhile

Woohoo!!!!!

Did it, created a carrier bundle for MTN, that contains the mtn logo (which can now be easily replaced by any logo with a simple winterboard theme). No need to program in the edge/gprs/3g internet settings or the voicemail number. Just copy the carrier bundle to the correct directory register the symlink and viola phone is setup

iPhone sucks !!!!

My iPhone goes into such a deepsleep mode at night that it won't ring if someone calls in the morning, it is starting to get embarrassing. Nevermind all the other stuff that is missing from the phone.

I've realised now that 250MB is not gonna be enough for me....it's SO easy to just press your thumb on the YouTube icon & voila!...you're watching videos.

This phone is the greatest mobile phone I have ever held in my hand. I'm convinced Nokio owners will get a heart attack on the spot, coming from the dull Nokio interface to all this eye candy & performance. :)

I think it sucks, because it is basically a cock tease, promises everything, but fails to deliver. Or at least that is how Vodacom sold it .........

Well the model that vodacom sells has not been jailbroken, so you cannot load any 3rd party software on it, and IMHO then you miss out on a lot.

I have jailbroken my phone the minute I got it, and its working like a charm, all the apps I could possibly want, from mms straight up to video recording.

And have to say, I have not had any issues with my phone going into such a deep sleep mode.

Wait till you delve deeper into the phone with putty, thats when the fun starts.

A little off topic to my post, but I see you can actually now download WII "client" for your iphone, then you use your iphone as a WII controller

Must agree with Gothan - I have not had a seconds problem on my iPhone - Draadloos you must have a dud. I also jailbroke the phone and am happily using all the features that are supposed to me missing from the iPhone.

Ok, can anyone help!

I opened my iTunes US account through my desktop at home but for some reason I can't download apps with my laptop at work and install it on my iphone!

I know there is a fix to copy/paste some kind of library file or extension over to the installation on my laptop, will this solve the problem and will I still be able to put new songs on my iphone via both computers?

in itunes, at the top, click store -> sign in (if the option is click sign out if you're already signed in, and sign in again)

then click store -> authorize computer

now you can connect your iphone, be sure to sync only apps, contacts and calendar though, as the rest will remove the music and movies and photos that you synced at home, apps and calendar can sync both ways, just make sure to "transfer purchases" before you sync

Ok a question to anyone that has both irealsms and intelliscreen. Is it just me or after the lastest irealsms update, intelliscreen does not display a new sms indicator on your lock screen (of course, when you receive a new email)?

Iphone restore from 2.2.1

i had the phone on 2.2 and jailbreaked. but without fully realising upgraded to 2.2.1 and now cant jailbreak. is there a way of going back to 2.2. ive tried the iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77_Restore file and followed the steps and just near the end it comes up with an error message and then fails. ive tried downloading the file from different sites and always the same error message and now can only restore back to 2.2.1

is there a way around this?

thanks

You said that you downloaded the iPhone1,2_2.2_5G77 file, and when you shift+click on the restore button in itunes, does it not work? Because that will restore the phone back to 2.2
