I wonder if it only works with their Installer app and not with Cydia...

I did read that it manages both Installer and Cydia repo's...

according to iClarified, yes, both Cydia and Installer repo's, still requires jailbreaking for most of the apps, as these apps require a writable system partition

I got myself the iLuv silicon case with screen protector from CNA.

My iphone dropped and didn't have a scratch. Also good when your hands are a little bit sweaty.

Very happy with it.

MYADSL WebClip back on Cydia. Under the Sleepers.net repo

Sleepers.net are messing me around though. They are accepting and rejecting and not including my screenshots and all other nonsense.

The quicker i can host my own repo the better, these guys are really full of rubbish!

Although it was just a test, it's damn irritating!! Having to submit the app 100 times before they publish it..

So just excuse the description (they decided to make their own one) and lack of screenshots (they decided to change my sumbission themselves...)

The Vodacom carrier logo is coming if they get their act together!

What does it actually take to host a repo? Do you need to run a special service or is it all simple http stuff?

Not very simple..

Take a look here. I've done the majority (creating a package) but the actual repo stuff (step 3) gets a bit more complex.

It looks like you can actually build the repo on a debian box (say your box at home) and then upload it to your hosted site, which will then serve it over http. I have webspace if you have a box to build repos on?

tvGuide update:

Certain ID's were changed. Delete the app and re-download it with the new channel ID's and it will work.

Great man! Need to figure out how to make the repo first! Tried doing it in Leopard after downloading some files you need but it wasn't working :(

Maybe someone can help?

As far as iPhone covers go - I have the silicone one with the hard plastic flip-cover for the screen protection. I have seldom used it for these reasons:

1) the phone's ringing volume has always been a problem and a cover makes it worse
2) have to uncover it to dock it for charging, which is something I do every time I get home - it's a habit because I often forget to charge my phone
3) the flip cover makes tapping on the screen an issue, have to flip the thing up and down all the time
4) one of the attractions of the phone to me is it's slim feel, any cover makes it bulkier and spoils it for me

I've managed to keep my phone fairly safe (touch wood), not a scratch other than on the chrome rim around the front panel, little hairline scratches there. I've had my phone since Dec 2007. It's a bit slippery in a pocket, but at the same time, using silicone makes it difficult to retrieve, so not sure if I would suggest a cover for anyone.

I bought xmlTvGuide - let me know who wants it...

Don't bother asking me for it if you do not know how to install it.

EDIT:

Having difficulties setting up the damn xml URL..

fxit - care to help out? I uploaded the .ipa

We need a direct .xml link. Not these .gz or .b2 files. Trying to find one or we'll have to set up our own link

What would be nice is if we set up a command to grab the .gz / .bz files and unzip them and upload them to our own server somewhere as just the .xml file...

Thats a good idea but the XMLTV file uncompressed will be big, I think over 10MB. The guy who hosts ZAXMLTV may stop updating the local XML file due to costs if that happens I don't know where else to get a local XMLTV list.

Yeah just tried to open a 1mb XML file on my pc and it even crashed there was so much info.. (I blame IE though)

Also tried to fool the iPhone by putting the Custom XML URL as "file:///1.xml" which i had placed at the root of the phone just as a test.

It tried to open it, took forever and i eventually force rebooted the phone

We gotta try and get this working though!

The 'features' of the XMLTV app states it supports GZ (gzip), so maybe it can read it compressed?

Thanks, i think it's a crappy app, even the standard ones that come with it aren't displaying properly, only the channel pics show, no data :/

...Which is why I don't buy apps without trying it out first ;)

Once bitten...
