Ok now I recommend installing:

SBSettings (With AutoCorrect, Processes, AutoLock and Rotation Toggles)
SysInfoPlus
Winterboard
VoIP3G to use Skype over 3G
Winterboard (Customization and themes, also to get rid of that terrible dock)

This is just a small list of what to get from Cydia to try convince you to remain jailbroken :D

hmm.... we should install winterboard twice??

just kidding

haha..

Typed that post in less that 20 secs..

Does anyone here use iKeyEx? It's not playing nicely with new biteSMS... Keeps on crashing biteSMS when I use my Greek keyboard..

Had to re-jailbreak a few times but got it eventually.
Yeah - came right. Fortunately I didnt have to hack my mbp at all.

Truth be told I only needed to be able to tether for Saturday - after that I may very well revert back to the original OS.

I like the MMS function and I paid for the applic - will probably not jailbreak after OS 3.0

only two thing's i'll consider jailbreaking for after 3.0

SBSettings - i like the quick enable/disable wifi, bluetooth and autolock
cycorder - video recording... there's speculation this will be in 3.0 though

Have to agree with SBSettings - many times I start PDANet and forget that 3g is not on - a quick swipe and it is activated and it was not necessary to exit PDANet to activate 3g.

Does turning 3G off really make that big a difference on battery life?

Oh, and with os3 that won't be a proble, no app has to run for tethering to be active...

Yeah dude....

With 3G I end my day on 10-15% and without it on I end my day on 20-30% battery life...

I even remember with my Nokia.. I used to get 3-4 days EXTRA with GSM mode as appose to Dual Mode (3G)...

My reasons would be:

SBSettings
Cycorder
Winterboard (Not for themes, just to get rid of that dock, and the Reflective dock of course :)
biteSMS (I sms family int. often so it costs me less with bite credit)
MobileInstallation Patch (What's this??
VoipOver3G (Again I have family overseas, so Skype is needed for emergencies when away from Wifi hotspot)

And yes there has been speculation of Video Recording in 3.0 here

Bluetooth for file transfers

Easy way to install iBluetooth for file transfer on iPhone 3g:

1.Go here http://www.xsellize.com/ and register on forums.
2.Open cydia on iPhone, click on manage -> sources -> edit -> add
3. Enter the following http://xsellize.com/cydia/username-password/ (username and password from the forum)
4. xSellize repo will be added, click on it scroll to iBluetooth and install.

iPhone must be jailbroken and must be setup for craked apps.

While you here scroll to another cool application called snapture and install.

It cuts battery life by about 50 - 60% I would say - bearing in mind I don't get it at home as well so its a waste.
My WiFi stays on just about all the time though with minimum battery drain (compared to 3G)

Quite a few rumours that a new iPhone is hitting the scene... Along with OS3?

Anyone else have similar predictions?

Yep many rumors, the appleinsider frontpage has a few of them... I'll be saving for the new model. :)

I have been following the articles on iClarified and it looks like OS 3.0 will bring with it a new iPhone. The one that is interesting is the the NAND flash order, looks like we might see 32GB iPhones, which means possibly 64GB touches (if the current trend in maintained). The electro magnetic compass also looks like it will have a lot of possibilities.

Hope it is for 2g iphones too!!!

Total waste the 32GB for me - I hardly use the 8GB on my current iPhone but will upgrade for new features.

How to: Disable admob ads in apps (e.g. Cycorder, Cydia etc)

To block admob ads in apps such as Cycorder (the ads reduce the fps significantly!!) and , Cydia etc.

Just edit the hosts file found at /etc folder by using WinSCP (included in the iPhone Tunnel Suite Software in my first post [File Browser]) and add this to the bottom:

# Block Admob ads
127.0.0.1 r.admob.com
127.0.0.1 mm.admob.com

Save, and voila.. No more ads in Cydia and Cycorder (any non BigBoss apps basically)

Only one problem is apps from BigBoss such as Categories and SBSettings do not run when it detects you have added admob to the hosts file.

What i do though is when i want to create a new category or edit SBSettings (which i don't do often anyways), i edit the hosts file back to how it was (deleting the admob bit), and then add the category or edit SBSettings.. Then change it back..

Not only are these ads irritating, but they use unnecessary bandwidth as well

I thought we could use this IP method to overcome this but it didn't work.. :D Thought it wouldn't detect that you have added admob to the hosts file in the form of an IP address.. Which it didn't, just didn't block it :p

What i wanted to do:

# Block Admob ads
127.0.0.1 165.193.245.57
127.0.0.1 165.193.245.48

You can hexedit the binaries to block the ads as well in BigBoss's apps apparently. I tried it and it crashed for me, but will give it another bash sometime and let you guys know

EDIT: Got it working. Will add it to next post ;)

I've got about 2gb free on my 8gb and that's with plenty of music, video, and a massive photographic portfolio.

I'll skip the next generation and see what they have next year.
