Well I have a 5th Gen iPod (30GB) I use in the car which is about full. So if my iPhone could take 32GB then I could consolidate down to one device :D

But yeah, the size is not such a big deal, but it is still cool to see how things advance.

I'm in the same boat as you ;) have a 32 gig touch (2G) in the car, music library is around 20 gig, so if there was a 32 gig iphone, i'd consolidate into one device as well ;(

Hey

need some help, I want to transfer music from my iphone to another phone via ibluetooth, is this possible?

Where do I find the music files stored on the phone?

Which directory?

quick answer.... no

music isn't stored in a logically readable manner, that is, the files have some random 4 or 6 letter names within folders called F1-Fn, so, even if you know where they are, you won't be able to figure out which file is what song

try winamp and the ml ipod plugin from souceforge if you want to get music off the device, but that's from the phone to a pc via the cable

I have a quick question.
At the moment i have a Nokia N82 (+- 6 months old). I was able to get an upgrade end of last year and i held off for a while since i had just bought my N82.

Now i am looking at getting a new phone, first I was looking at getting the Sony Ericsson X1, but lack of stock locally became a problem. I was looking at getting the 16gb Iphone, just want opinions on if its worth getting it now or wait for the new Iphone if it comes out anytime soon? I would use it mostly for the games which look like fun even if they might get boring, fast, i don't have a hand held console (Ds or PSP) so was thinking the Iphone would be handy to have, and also for web browsing. I have an 80gb Zune 2 which i use for my music and movies.

If you guys were in the same position what would you do? I am not sure if its worth it just for games and web browsing if you already have a good Mp3 player.

Well, the games on thye iphone are amazing (myst is also comming to the iphone), the graphics are amazing.

The web browswer is safari, so if that is not a problem for you (although you can get a lot of different browsers, even though they are all based on safari from the appstore), then I would say go for it, but why not hold out for the new one? By then you might have decided to get the X1 anyways and if not, then you can easily get the new iphone.

Remember its a huge jump from something like a nokia or any other smart (touch screen) phone to an iphone. Iphones do not follow the same conventional rules of other mobile phones

I would expect there to be a big learning curve. Guess i don't mind trying to wait a few months. The X1 is out of the picture now, i wanted a good phone that has decent games, which i can hardly find for the X1, so the Iphone wins easily in that area. How is the battery life on it after playing a game for a while? Its not a big problem if i have to carry the cable around since my laptop is always nearby. Anyone got any idea on what the new Iphone will bring to the table?

Unfortunately there I do not have a clue, my fav is labyrinth, and that does not even dent the battery after an hour or so, but its also not that graphically challenging, but one thing I can say is that the games on the iphone is looking amazing, read an article where they said the up and comming dexter game was using 30000 pixels at 30 fps on the iphone

And if i got an iphone how would i get games on it, lets say if i download the games from a "non official" source. Would i have to jailbreak the phone and use cydia? I am not to sure on how it all works. I am an Iphone Noob :P

I wouldn't advise waiting for the new iPhone, it releases in the USA in June, SA will probably be about at least 6 months behind in the release date, meaning, we will probably get it by end november at the very earliest... my guess is only half way through next year

the only major feature upgrade you'll get in the new phone will be the compass, and maybe video calling, all other new features are software dependent, and will be included in the iPhone 3G once the software releases with the newer iPhone. I do think the newer iPhone might be a bit more slim though, and there's always the hoping for better battery life... so let's hope...

if capacity is a huge issue for you, then wait for the 32Gig version of the new phone, otherwise, go for 16Gig iPhone 3G

tech junkie that I am, I'll probably buy the new phone when it releases to have the newest, but truth be told, I don't think the new phone will bring any significant hardware additions to the party

lots of free games, those that aren't free are cheap, i really do suggest just buying the games.... there are ways around that though i guess, i haven't tried to use any of these, as i don't mind paying 99c for a game

with regards to your comment on "learning curve".... well, there is none, the phone is EXTREMELY intuitive, can promise you it won't take any time at all to get used to it... there's a really tiny (and i do mean less than an a4 in total) size manual called "fingertips" that comes with the phone, once you've read that you're set... trust me, best gadget buy you'll ever make... as from june, on the existing iPhone 3G you'll even have tomtom navigation system built in to the phone (it will be available on the app store when the 3.0 firmware releases in june)

So if i get the Iphone 3G now, when the new Iphone gets released they wont start making games/apps just for that specific phone? (i think i am around computers too much thinking that there is always something better around the corner :P). The 32gb version would be nice, my music collection is about 25gb so it would be nice to not have to filter through the songs i want on it. Any idea when the 32gb will show itself?

I have the 16GB...and I have to say that my biggest concern was always that there wouldn't be enough space for all my music. But after I've been using it for about 5 months now I have to admit that 16GB is more than enough. The thing is that I NEVER end up using all the music on my iPhone anyway. I have 1920 songs on it at this moment and I don't even get to listen to all of them, no matter how many times I pluck my phone from my pocket to listen.

On the flipside, it's actually better to be limited in a way, it forces me to put on only the music that I ever really listen to, and it's also ingrained in me a healthy habit of actually making sure that my favorite albums always have all the album art on each song, with ID3 tags, even lyrics... :D

LOL, Good point. I don't have a problem with album art and ID3 tags (one of the best things about the Zune Software) but i guess there is alot of *** i wont ever listen to. I just don't have the time or effort to go throgh it :P

Same here, I would sync a good chunk of my library to fill my 8GB but now I just limit myself to my favourite 10 albums I'm listening to ATM and I'm left with a half empty phone which I can fill with Apps :)

I thought the choice of 8GB over 16GB would bite me one day but I was wrong it's more than enough.
