DSTV has released their own program guide app on the App store, free download. Much better than any of the others I've tried (tvGuide and XMLGuide) and you can choose which channels you want to view the program guide for. It rocks! :D

Thank you for sharing!!

I love this app, just what I've been looking for. :)

Hey guys, need some help from the iphone gurus ;)

My friend has a 16gb iPhone 3G bought from 02 network in the uk.
It's been unlocked and jailbreaked and is on firmware 2.2 (5g77),
we registered it to the SA appstore, but when trying to get mxit, it says 2.2.1 firmware is needed.

Now before updating the firmware I did some reading, turns out that updating will break the unlock exploit as it upgrades the baseband too.
I did however read that you can upgrade using a custom firmware and pwnage so that you leave the baseband alone.

Since I dont have a mac or access to a mac, pwnage is out of the question,
is there anyone here who's managed to get this right?
Can you please point us in the right direction?
Also, are there any downsides to the upgrade? I ask because some sites mention that even keeping the baseband but upgrading the firmware might make future exploits impossible..
?confused?

please help

thanks in advance

Hey man.

I don't have a 3G, only a 2G, but from what i have read, you can upgrade and then just downgrade your baseband afterwards.

Alternatively, im sure you can find custom .ipsw's (firmware update files) on websites and torrent sites that are made with pwnage which you can simply restore to.

It would however be best to ask those already at 2.2.1 with an iPhone 3G as they would have gone through the same problem.

Cheers and good luck

This process is very easy.

You don't need a Mac either, your Win0z3 machine will do.

Download QuickPwn 225-2 from www.quickpwn.com for Windows.

Update to 2.2.1 in iTunes.

Your phone WILL be locked now, and iTunes will tell you to insert the correct SIM card to activate.

Load QuickPwn.

Follow steps and JAILBREAK it.

Reboot.

Open CYDIA.

Install all upgrades, Community Sources etc....

Search and Install "3G Fuzzyband Downgrader".

Open it, follow instructions. This will downgrade your baseband to 2.28 making yellowsn0w work and use any simcard!!!

thanks linmos thats sounds simple enought, i've already got quickpwn 2.2.5-2,
but have you tried this?
I've heard people are unable to downgrade after..
I really dont want to lock up the phone till the next exploit which may be months away..

Thanks for that heads up - seems to be more updated than 'tvguide' as MNET HD on the Dstv guide is listing the Super 14 rugby while TVGuide is still listing Amazing planet at 17h00 today.

The DSTV app is quite nice (looked at it even though I don't have DSTV). Would be nice to have a search option and also needs a little polish (and a few small feature updates) but as the 1st version I think it is pretty good.
