i prefer the current 3g's styling to that one...
the licensing crap on the back needs to be darker like on the 3g, that mock up's back is just screwed up by the chrome licensing.
also, i dont like the home button.

i haven't tried it without the turbosim, cos the guy who i bought it from said i shouldn't incase something happens. do you think it will be fine if i use my normal vodacom sim?

he also mentioned that i must never ever put my airplane mode on. any reasons why? thanks guy!

Load of bollocks, if anything does go wrong just restore to the same firmware u already have and the phone will be none the wiser, try it without turbosim, See what works, also check www.thebigboss.org he's got an article on sim solutions to locked phones on the home page

Install Oceanus. It's the best browser for the Iphone I've used so far. It has an option to compress all websites to mobile format, loads websites super fast. Fullscreen browsing, tabs, etc etc.

yeah i tried putting on aeroplane mode, all it does is lose my signal and then i just have to reboot my phone, but everything seems fine. as for using my sim without turbosim, can i just download the 2.1 firmware online? cos i bought this iphone from a guy who got it jailbreaked? just wana know first before i try without the turbosim. thanks thanks!

oh, this may be a noob question, but when i try use the map app for directions, it always says that i cant give me directions for the locations, is it the south african maps that need to be updated?
 
I will admit I haven't really searched much, but is there an app that can make turning wireless on/off quicker without having to go through all the settings.

What's fun (interseting etc) is that it is possible to have decent free GPS software on the iPhone. Also when you get a GPS glitch and suddenly your 1.4 car is doing over 200km :D

SBSettings, actually SBSettings should be standard on all iphones, but you will have to jailbreak your phone, if its not of course

on the iPhone 3G, jailbreak has nothing to do with the network lock, and it's easy to jailbreak it again yourself

the turbosim bypasses the need for any unlock, and you can safely try without the turbosim and then just use the turbosim again if it doesn't work, there should be no need for restore

I did however read up on some forums, I think your phone is network locked, so, either use pwnage on a mac to modify the official 2.2.1 firmware to not update your baseband, or, check your bootloader to see if you can downgrade your baseband, if you use the modified firmware to update, you can install yellowsnow from cydia, and in that case you no longer need turbosim

you are going to have some issues on the new OS 3.0 though...

anyone want to put bets on OS 3.0 releasing today??? lots of rumors about a surprise limeted iPhone launch today as well..... here's hoping ><

It's definitely possible, but we don't have it yet. I still don't see any purpose of having GPS without navigation. The worst GPS navigation software on a PDA is 100 times better than the best GPS software on the iPhone.
