Im madly confused.

Does jailbreaking void the warranty of your iPhone?

Some sources say it does, some say it doesn't
 
oh and apparently you can jailbreak the 3.0 GM with quickpwn beta 5 (selecting the beta 5 firmware in quickpwn)

but this is a "hybrid" jailbreak.. not recommended by bigboss as it uses beta 5 components..lol i don't care though.. will prob do it just to mess around :p
 
After reading this forum I have come the conclusion that not only do i have a very complicated phone that was shipped with the smallest manual, but that after 13 years in IT I am no closer to knowing it all. Guys you are all scaring the bejesus out of me with all the techno talk. I will wait for 17 June load OS 3.0 and after that get one of you jacked up guys to jailbreak my beloved Apple Iphone 3G, cause my nerves cannot handle it if something goes wrong :D any volunteers? It comes with as much Amstel as you can handle and the company of a aging IT Tech with a sparkling personality

lol nvm.. seems morkhans was right.. no MMS for 2G.. (until jailbreak) ...oh well..

need a 3G S NOW!!!

edit: hmm.. this 3.0 GM keeps making funny random (every 5 - 10 mins) GSM signal noises which my PC speakers pick up.. Push is off and Wi-Fi on.. Weird..

Relax, jailbreakings not that tricky, just wait for the release and you'll be fine, pretty much a "next, next..., finish" process really

1. Backup all data in iTunes.

2. Get a Pwned 2.2.1 custom ipsw (filename = iPhone1,1_2.2.1_5H11_Custom_Restore.ipsw , or make one yourself with Pwnage tool in Mac)

3. Restore to above pwned 2.2.1 firmware

4. Shift + Update to 3.0 GM (NOT RESTORE)

5. This will retain activation..

QuickPwn does not retain activation for some reason. But Pwnage Tool (i.e. pwned ipsw firmware does)

I can help you out if you like, but really as Roland says it's just next, next, next. At this stage I am still deciding if I really need to jailbreak on 3.0. I might consider it for SBSettings and Winterboard...
 
Oh on a side note. I bought Myst last night. Have just installed and checked that it worked so no decent feedback, but I am looking forward to some retro questing :)

I think the bandwidth cost me more than the app :eek: (another only in SA moment)

I have updated through the beta's on MTN (with the ipcc) and from beta 5 onwards I've kept both MMS and tethering simultaneously.

The vodacom is 3G with no ipcc, and neither MMS nor tethering works. (MMS settings are correct, MMS options appear. tethering option is not there)

Does anyone have a correctly edited vodacom ipcc file please?

I have uploaded Rolands IPCC files for 3.0 here

@fxit, can you maybe stick this in the first post for the 3.0 guys along with some brief notes like needing older version of iTunes.

urgh... i'm getting impatient...

they had the "official unofficial" jailbreak for all the beta's out within a day, where's the GM jailbreak??? grrr!!! - i want my sbsettings!!!!
