@ Theron - don't know how difficult this is but can you post the default ipcc files for us (OS3) so that we don't have to do a restore to get rid of the ipcc file loaded. I understand you have a new version no in the modified picc files but you could possibly update the version in the original ipcc file?

Don't know if this is possible or what it entails - work wise. Just a question..

Just tested at the office - with full 3g reception, tethering does not work with the ipcc files as stated in this thread. MMS works though.

Theron & morkams - what you guys doing today? think you must get stuck in and see if you can fix this problem....:D because I think we all agree to wait for vodacom could take months!!!

as i've said before, we've issued many warnings not to use ipcc's with beta 5 and onwards, we don't know how to fix this, you'll have to restore the firmware and not restore backup, uploading the ipcc cannot be undone

Sorry but this is a joke,
1) MMS - not working gets stuck at 90%
2) Tethering - not working
Not sure what else is not working.
WTF do they expect? Now we have to still tweak everything?

Its a vodacom issue. Speak to vodacom about sorting it out.

I am so fed up with Apple and Vodacom.
Someone should have had this ready for the release.
For bloody f cks sake
So you download a new OS and you still have to bloody tweak the crap out of it?
Sorry but thats why I prefer my SE X1

This bugger up falls squarely on the shoulders of vodacom - don't tell me they did not have access to the betas and the gm release to set up their ipcc files before the official release??

OK, thanks - will do so - luckily I won't lose anything :);)

And MTN? Does it work there?
Vodacom are supposed to be the Apple boys in town no? Their big launch and everything....
You would think they would have planned for this.
Bunch of a$$ holes.
Jeeez I hate big business in this country.
Everywhere else this works but no in SA we have to be behind with everything.

Well actually with the tethering they are struggling all over, in the states AT&T does not even have tethering available (and I mean on their system, not just the iphone), even MMS on some of the providers are prohibited.

Only now people are bringing out custom IPCC files and people are hacking their phones (although I would rather go pdanet than use the IPCC file)

as i've warned (repeatedly)

DO NOT USE ANY OF THE IPCC'S FOR PAST BETAS WITH THIS RELEASE

on iPhone 3G it damages all data connectivity to the phone when the phone is on 3G, mms and tether works, but only on edge/gprs, and that sucks

don't use ipcc's, just manually enter the mms settings on the phone, then restart the phone, and then mms will work

What are teh manual settings for Vodacom? I see MTNs on the 1st page, but not vodacoms?

HOW TO ACTIVATE MMS ON THE IPHONE......TRIED TESTED AND WORKING.... DONT FORGET TO REBOOT AFTER YOU INPUT THE SETTINGS

Goto Settings....General....Network...Cellular Data Network...

Under Cellular Data Network go right to the bottom and hit the Reset Settings Button this should bring up "Cellular Data" "Visual Voicemail" & "MMS" if not there already

Under MMS put the following info in and leave all other fields blank

Vodacom
APN: mms.vodacom.net
MMSC: mmsc.vodacom4me.co.za
Proxy: 196.006.128.013:8080

Virgin
MMSC: mms.virginmobile.co.za
Proxy: 196.31.116.242:8080
APN: vmms

Cell C
MMSC: mms.cmobile.co.za/
Proxy: 196.031.116.250:8080 (or 9201)
APN: mms

MTN
MMSC: http://mms.mtn.co.za/mms/wapenc
Proxy: 196.11.240.241:8080
APN: myMTN
Username: mtnmms
Password: mtnmms (not required apparently)

I have only tried this on vodacom so dunno if the other networks work...

LASTLY YOU NEED TO REBOOT THE PHONE FOR THE SETTINGS TO TAKE EFFECT

nevermind, found the above info, havent tested it myself yet on vodacom.

MMS setting in messages

I have updated to OS3 on my iPhone but I do not see the MMS setting in Messages as per the Apple website. I did change the MMS setting manually under the network settings but I have no idea how to send an MMS??? Is it just me or am I doing something wrong?

(Ag never mind...I only saw the top post after posting this message...thanks guys...I just had to restart the phone!!!)

Hi , whats the deal with file tranfer via bluetooth. Is this possible with the stock standard version 3? can you pair with a laptops bluetooth for instance and share files?

Guys, I find the wifi stability to be shocking. Anyone experienced this after upgrading? I'm connected but the icon keeps going away and I am forced to browse with my data connection.

okay here is what I am doing RIGHT now. I plugged my phone into the PC Itunes started up and now the update is downloading. I dnt know if I should be doing anything else. I will keep you all updated of my SLOW progress (IBurst 1mb Line). If you have any tips for me over the next few hours drop me a PM or post it here I will be checking this thread regularly. \HOLDING THUMBS

yup.. worked like a charm to get tethering on vodacom.

I can confirm that too (not too keen on using it but it's nice to know the tethering works). But I haven't actually used it yet, will test it tonight at home (I've got like 20MB of my bundle left and it's only the 18th :( )
